    Weekday 4-8 September finds

My girl just stumbled on a huge cache of unmoved Bollywood record stock and sussed me to them. Grabbed a few of the more interesting items and scored a few doubles so pm me if your interested (I have an aversion to anything with breaks)

    R.D.Burman: Jheel Ke Us Paar
    Naushad: Ram aur Shyam
    Naushad: Rattan
    Kalyanji Anandji: Mere Humsafar (doubles)
    Kalyanji Anandji: Karmayogi
Laxmikant Pyarelal: Geeta Mera Namam (doubles)
    Shankar Jaikishan: Shivkar
Bappi Lahiri: Aaj Kaa M.L.A (doubles)
Shyam: Kalliyamkattu Neeli/Urakkam Varatha Rathrikal (doubles, interesting fills/break)
    S.Mohinder: Papi Tarey Anek (doubles)
M.Ashraf/Kamel Ahmed: Rangeela Aur Munawar Zareef (doubles)
    Ilaiyaraja: Kamagni

    and earlier this week:

    Sid/Simon Philips- Two Generations

Not too bad a week thus far and my first record haul since my 21st

just found a few in cancer research

    Billy Harper- black saint
Flora Purim- butterfly dreams-stories to tell
    Spyrogyra-morning dance
    Michael Mantler/Carla Bley-Watt/3
    Terje Rypdal-Works
    Gary Burton/Keith Jarrett
    Armando Peraza- Wild Thing

I know none of them are '!!!!FINDS!!!!' but it seems like ages since I've had that chance to peek into someones collection like this...was a whole load of jazzy stuff, mostly Santana/McLaughlin type stuff, but these looked a bit more interesting. I'm chuffed

*edit* had a listen, and if anyones interested in any bar Armando Peraza, I'd happily trade...all ex-m

"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)

      Ruins - S/T (Shimmy Disc)

Alcione - Morte de um Poeta (Philips)

Shock Headed Peters - Life Extinguisher (Beach Culture)

Annette Peacock - Abstract Contact (Ironic)

John Zorn - The Big Gundown: Plays Music Of Ennio Morricone (Icon/Nonsuch)

Wow! Where did this turn up? He was on the cusp of his thrash jazz period here so you can imagine how he mangles up Morricone. You may already be a Zorn fan and know what to expect, but this ain't easy listening. Check out Erotico, though. The only track I know that credits "sexy italian vocals". I'd actualy shortlisted it for my swap CD, might have to do a rethink now.

Thats a Zorn album on the avatar, incidentally.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.

Came from Selectadisc secondhand bins: find Zorn very hit and miss, but do like enough of what I've heard for the prospect of his takes on Morricone to be worth a cheap punt - but not listened yet...will definitely pay attention to Erotico, though!

I seem to be finding Cat Stevens in the last two months. I got Catch Bull At Four last month, Tea With The Tillerman and Greatest hits yesterday and now this one.
