    Default The Game

Anyone else noticed the posters around advertising an LP by someone called The Game?

The posters claim his is the "only hip hop album this year". Surely there have been others????

Also, does anyone else think that the accompanying image of The Game looks like he's just getting onto (or off) the toilet?

...with an LA tattoo on his cheek. I was thinking of getting a Southport one but it was too many letters.

It's the only hip hop album this year for people who don't know what hip hop actually is.

    I thank you.
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...

So what game is the game? Ludo? Is he game for a game, or just THE game - game of life? This is more confusing than the end of the Terminator.

The Matrix surely. Or Donnie Darko even.

I must admit I was particularly impressed by the artwork for his new album. Clearly his record label has put a lot of thought into it, when compared to the slightly less impressive cover for his debut album...

There was at least one good hip hop album this year I thought - Ghostface Killer - Fishscale - a concept album about cocaine might not sound all that butfantastic use of soul samples and exemplar rapping - preferable to kanye anyway..alos an honourable mention for the Roots....

Surely this proves that people in marketing are largely idiots and/or lazy.

Wouldn't you think they'd discuss this at one of their endless meetings, and someone would pipe up "hang on, someone passing this poster will probably point out, quite rightly, that there have been other hip-hop albums this year. Let's not invite this and think up a different phrase, especially as it's probably a really poor record to boot."

They are paid absolutely shitloads. What a galling world we live in.

So everyone who follows the rule "don't blame the playa, blame the game" ends up blaming that fella on the LP covers up there then? He must get a lot of shit... Maybe that's what he 'rhymes' about, all the blame he gets, it's not fair, better change your name, mate.

Nice to see I'm not the only person that was depressed to find this thread wasn't actually about Morden's top mod boys - and mates of Kenny Lynch.

And no-one's mentioned 'Addicted Man' yet either!!

Or did you mean THIS kind of game?

In the Church of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard's concept of "game" is defined in the Official Scientology and Dianetics glossary as:

game: a contest of person against person or team against team. A game consists of freedoms, barriers and purposes, and there is a necessity in a game to have an opponent or an enemy. Also there is a necessity to have problems, and enough individuality to cope with a situation. To live life fully, then, one must have in addition to "something to do," a higher purpose, and this purpose, to be a purpose at all, must have counter-purposes or purposes which prevent it from occurring. [1]
    To infinity - and beyond!

well, he's bought two more wheels with the proceeds... maybe if this one sells well he'll be able to buy a belt... (there's quite a danger of seeing if he has any tattoos on his other cheeks the way his trousers seem to be going )

    It's tiddlywinks.

I also noticed today that Jay Z has got a new un out. Promoted along the lines that, "the President of hip hop is back".

So how does that work, then? President of the land of hip hop? Largely a ceremonial role? Or democratically elected??

    And where's he been?

lol hyperbole, exaggeration (and where possible alliteration) have always been the marketeer's friend and will be until the end of time. Or the end of hip hop, whichever comes first.

I thought that. He's making a pun of the fact that he's Dre's protege but it falls down by virtue of not actually meaning anything in the first place.

He's probably after a vest too, Michael. And maybe he should get Xzibit to pimp his ride? I think a car with nothing but four wheels is probably shoddy enough to qualify...
