    Default Real obscurities

Anyone who has a lot of randomly discovered records must have a fair number which there seems to be very little or no mention of anywhere. Which ones come to mind?

    Mine would particularly include:

Orlando - For Once In My Life LP (see my recent post)

TH150 - an album of folky stuff and narrated historical details celebrating 150 years of the area of Terre Haute

an EP of groovy Thai music by Surachai Sombatcharoen

Viagem Musical com Vanja Orico - some excellent 50s Brazilian pop

Say It With A Japanese Word - red flexidisc with Japanese language course and booklet

Bravo Breakdance Sensation '84 - flexidisc from the German teen magazine Bravo for a breakdance comp from 1984, includes a cute, short megamix of the songs on the comp

a souvenir "field" record from the marketplace in Marrakech with snake charming music and random street noise - bought by my parents on their honeymoon in 1974

Freddie Rodriguez: La Versatilidad de... Groovy latin boogaloo on UA Latino

the 11th Chicagoland Jazzband festival - amateur band contest, one crazy Hammond version of Norwegian Would (sic!)

Amral's Trinidad Chevaliers steel band - Funky steel drum cover of Oyo Come Va that always makes shout out "B-boys rock the world!"

Lucky Thompson: Soul's nite out - One really nice soul-jazzy number, on a spanish label

Jose Marie Band - cruise souvenir record with cheesy covers of Going out of my head/I can't take my eyes off you and Light My Fire

Nice Lp on the Nessa label - there is another good track on that one though - name escapes me at the moment.

Sampled by Koop on the track "modal mile" featuring Earl Zinger - probably one of his finest moments.
