Cheers....think I'll have to invest in one of those. Funnily enough I was just talking to friend about it at the weekend and how the previous reissue is selling for quite a healthy sum so this latest issue has come as a nice surprise

    Am i the only one?
Bought the 1st repress when it came out a few years ago, nearly shaking with anticipation of this long lost clasic, could it really be the holy grail, the greatest UK psychedelic album of all time?
Well, no actually. One spin & sold.
The most dissapointing "lost classic" i can remember hearing.
Would love to know what other Vultures feel about it, is it just hard to get into & a few more spins would have rewarded me?

I will probably get the new issue to replace my CD, but I would tend to agree with antwhiplash2 that it's not quite the British Pet Sounds. I do like "Daytime Girl" and "Come Again" (especially as recorded by Del Shannon) a lot, and the accompanying demos as I remember hearing them were pretty great, but I love Billy Nicholls' fab second LP Love Songs so much more!

I just got sent a freebie of the new double Lp re-ish with all the bells and whistles of demos and alt takes and the like added on and have had nothing else on the decks for about a week now. Hadn't listened to the LP in an age, but can't get enough of it yet again this tyme around.

For those of you not familiar with the record, 'tis truly a marvel of euphoric, slightly dazed, sunshine psychedelia. Hits like The Beach Boys if they had a mutant love child with The Small Faces. 'Girl from New York' is one of the greatest songs of all time; you can't beat a banjo interlude a la 'Would you believe' and what's not to dig about anything that has Stevie M on backing vocals. A confection of delights and guaranteed to imbue a warm afterglow upon you as the Indian summer slowly fades away into Autumn.

To these ears, as close as the UK came to a 'Pet Sounds'-esque symphonic SuperPop record, but all washed with the kind of early acid wash that things like 'Through My Eyes' or 'The Walker' by The Creation also ripple and shine with,

Still a few left as well, so personally I'd receommend shelling the sixteen quid.

i heard it when it was reissued about ten yrs back and thought it fell straight into the "quite good" pile. "London Social Degree" (geddit) was a highlight but I didn't rate the LP that much otherwise. I'd give it another go though.
