    Default Pigeon Toed Orange Peel

In one of my every-few-years desperate searches to see if this tune from the Coogans Bluff club scene (Clint doesn't much care for those hippies) is available anywhere I have found only 2 leads and have some queries:

    1) It was possibly released on a Japanese 45.

Anyone know if this is true? Can't find any copies anywhere.

    2) There is a song called PTOP on a JTI label comp called Scored 1:0 by the Prisoners but info on the realease is scarce.

Is it the same song? Did they perform it for the movie or is it a cover version?

Any info would be most welcome!

Yeah I have the Scored 1-0 version... not the original, it is a cover. The whole album are covers of theme tunes performed by JTQ (in various guises) and a host of their friends.

No info on the original though.

Many thanks...is it a good or faithful version?

Also would you reccomend the compilation?

I have seen a few copies of sale.

    Cheers!

Havent heard the original tune but the Prisoners version was one of a few tracks they recorded during one of their mid-1990s reformations, there was a single from the same sessions "Shine On" I think it was called. I do remember looking at that that compilation LP, "Scored 1:0", think it came out in 1997, I did needle drop it at the time but ISTR the Prisoners cut was easily the best thing on it and the rest was pretty forgettable so I didnt buy it. Think it was something like 500 copies on double vinyl, 500 on CD, put out by one J Taylor on a made-up label called "JTI" (an obvious ripoff of CTI).

    Cheers,

I was looking at the cd art wondering wht yhe JTI logo looked familiar.

I might give this C.D a punt for that track then.

With Lalo regularly re-issuing his stuff now I'm hoping he'll get around to Coogans Bluff one day.

If he does 'Sudden Impact' over this he needs his head testing.

Well being a big JTQ / Acid Jazz fan I have to disagree with eagerbeaver... I love this album, and if anything I find the PTOP track my least favourite cut on it, but that's simply my taste swinging towards the AJ sound (which this cut certainly isn't). I don't remember how the original sounds, so I'm no help on comparing it to this version.

There's an edited version of JTQ's Starsky & Hutch theme on it, which kind of spoils it also in my opinion, and the Akimbo track was also released on their own self-titled LP, but all of the other tracks don't appear anywhere else to my knowledge.

If you can pick it up under a fiver then I thinks it's money well spent (but only if you like the AJ sound).

I will concur.... I was still well into the garageband thing back in 1997 which prob explains my preference at the time ! If I revisited this comp now, I might well think differently. And yes I'd pick it up for a fiver too.

I think the JTQ Starsky theme has been put out again lately hasnt it?
