    Question Uploading mp3s

Not wanting to let you forget that just as Sarge is king of the mods, so I am king of the Luddites, I thought I'd bug y'all with one of my perennial fool questions. It be this:

I'm on the verge of being able to record from vinyl on to my iBook, and the tracks then can go into my iTunes, obviously.

How do I then get them from there up on the site?
I'm in thrall to the likes of Folkisiene and the downloadable mp3s he puts up with his charts and want to start doing something similar.

    Help!!
    To infinity - and beyond!

Hugh easiest way for you to do it, is firstly convert to MP3 on iTunes (keep the bitrate quite low if it's simply for others to listen to). If you want only snippets, edit them in Garageband first (or something similar).

Then use www.yousendit.com or something similar. It's free and you have either 7 days for the download to be used or 100 downloads, whichever comes first. There are loads of these site, also: rapidshare etc etc

It's idiot proof so even a Gooner should be able to use it. Oh wait a minute...

OK, so now I have - thanks to jens - an mp3 uploaded onto his website:

    http://www.laplanetesauvage.com/soun...aumeDuster.mp3

    Does this work?
    Can you hear this?
And download it if you want?

And how can I change the title so it says manfred Krug on it?

Hugh, are you on a mac?

In Finder, click and hold in the mousebutton to rename a track, if you are on a PC just right click on the track in the explorer

    Yeah, I'm on a mac.
    So what do I do?
I re-open my post, to edit it?
And what does 'In finder' mean?

    I warned you I'm a fool!

    Hi Hugh,
Do you have any web space you can use? Maybe with your broadband package? If so you can upload your mp3 files to your space and with a bit of html code link them to your charts etc....If you glazed over with the first question I could double up with Jens and host a few bits for you...? Once the mp3's are stuck up on a server you can use the little globe symbol with a link (Under smiley on your VV post toolbar) and type in what you like...eg: Huge's MP3

If you know any tech nerds bribe them to sort it for you - It's easy if they install FTP...
Beware the lollipop of mediocrity; lick it once and you'll suck forever.

I'd do it myself with one of the upload sites (yousendit, megaupload etc).

Register, upload following very easy instuctions, link is automatically generated for you, copy link, paste link in forum post. Easy.

Its worth spending 5 mins trying to work it out. Do it once and you'll think its the proverbial
...if in doubt consult your dealer.

Have a look at Divshare.com, really easy to upload & share, & you get a bit of code to copy that will put an mp3 player on your page, its right nice.
