Default None record related Broadband question...sorry!

Just moved house and one of the seemingly common "dangers" is the problem of getting reconnected to broadband at your new address (I know Mr Sayers and Imperial Mao know this problem all to well!)

Anyway, keeping it brief I can't get connected to the internet via the telephone point in my bedroom. The main telephone point in the hall works as does the kitchen. My room and another bedroom don't work, although the phones work fine. Anyone know if this would be a BT fault or perhaps a fault with the wiring on the two bedroom points (they have recently been installed by two different qualified electricians).

I've rang my Internet provider about 5 times now and I can't quite make out from the "technical advisers" whether its a problem that BT need to sort out or whether its the fault of the electricians making a balls-up of the wiring?

My head hurts and don't get me started on why my TV/DVD Recorder reception doesn't work properly

    Any experts out there? Cheers.

    The usual moving house nightmare.
The only thing i can add is that a guy who sells & repairs computers once told me that you should get your broadband with the same people who supply your telephone service. The reason is that with 2 different companies they will just blame each other for any problem, if you just use one then obviously they can't blame anybody else.
I didn't take his advice, BT broadband is sooo expensive.

Yep, I'd been advised the same thing to. Shocking really when these major companies make such a big deal of customer care being top of their agenda when in reality they don't give a toss.

    Thanks for the advice anyway.

From how you describe it I would suggest that it is the repeaters (the extra boxes) that are causing the problem if the Broadband connection can actually make it as far as the first box in the house. BT will probably not show much interest in the wiring beyond the initial box. I would go back to whoever did the extra wiring and ask them to come back (under warranty) and demonstrate the full functionality of what they have installed.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.

Well the brother-in-law did one of them so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.....or it could cause a family rift as I question the quality of his workmanship! Either way, I'm willing to take that chance

    Thanks for the advice.
