Vibra, Brother Logic and Lady J dig deep into their phonographic lairs for the special stuff to spin at Sheffield's smashing ale quaffing establishment, The Washington. Expect fresh vinyl discoveries, lost gems and all sorts of groovy tackle. Yes please. x
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...

Brother Logic Winningest Top Five For September:

    1. George Martin - Trespassers Will Be Eaten
From The Live and Let Die Soundtrack comes this funky brass led number - sounds very much like Laying the Trap from the Gatur soundtrack at first then changes up into a dirty heavy version of the bond soundtrack. Property of a Lady!

    2. Annette Peacock - I Belong To A World That's Destroying Itself

In 1967 Annette Peacock was given a prototype of a Moog synthesizer. Being sensible she opted not to play it but instead pass her voice through it and made this fantastic record. This is a record of jazzy / avant garde arrangements and Peacocks modified voice sounds about 20 times bigger than usual. An absolute killer of a record - could just play this in its entirety...

    3. Colleen - The Heart Harmonicon

Been buying up Colleen's back catalogue of late and this is one of my faves. The sound of two music boxes playing in sync, this is fairly typical of her sound. It's so beautiful and delicate - the perfect thing to listen to over a pint.

    4. Topo D. Bill - Witchitaito

I like the Bonzo Dog Band an awful lot. This single is Legs Larry Smith under a different (but typically bonzo-ish) name and features members of Yes and Roger Ruskin Spears. The flipside is more in the Bonzo vein being about Jam and Jamming. My favourite Legs story is about the time the Bonzo's got pulled over in the States. They were a weird bunch and Smith stood out particularly since he was wearing a pair of trousers made entirely from Holiday Inn Towels. Class.

    5. Frank Stafford/Barry Foster - Poem 7

I love poetry records and this one is a little bit special. Barry Foster reads the work of John Hayward whilst Frank Stafford and band play some rather lovely music. The whole album's great but Poems 3 and 10 stand out particularly as Stafford plays some beautiful Fender Rhodes against flute and guitar. It's a chicken dinner and has a young girl playing a recorder behind a galaxy on the cover.
    Errr..Hambone?
