Default replacement stylus - Ariston Q deck

    hi

I recently inherited an Ariston Q deck, but the stylus is broken. I know nothing about record players but would like to get a replacement. Which would be the best stylus that I could get for under £20 that would fit it?

    thanks

I think you'll find a hi-fi shop can best help you with that.

"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)

Whatever the cartridge happens to be then only one stylus will fit it. The stylus will detach from the cartridge; just grip either side and pull (usually); not the "needle" bit but the bit around it. Take the loosebit to maplin/tandy/hi fi dealer of repute/t'interweb and they will give you a new one. I'll bet it's an Ortofon of some sort. You might get it for £20(ish).

Nice deck the Q deck. My dad has just started using an Ariston Icon; very similar.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.

    Now that's detective work!
...if in doubt consult your dealer.

That's my 'other' forum! I'd have answered there if I'd ever heard of that deck...or wasn't a total moron when it comes to styluses etc.

Actually, I've got a stylus question of my own.

I've just been given a rega planar 2, and it's got an A and R c77 cartridge...the needle is definitely not straight on...it's bent to one side. Anyone know if this normal?

I feel partly responsible for attracting the styli googlers with the Rega Planar 2 thread I started the other week ...

I guess it's an indie website, but more ahead of the game than NME or something like that.

The guys who do the website put out a Kaiser chiefs single when no one else would sign them, ditto bat for lashes, and the forums are really active and good for discovering new stuff/pimping stuff you've got going on
