Fairly productive weekend for me. Popped into the local chazzer and found a small pile of weird-beard South American post-punk gubbins - 3 for a quid got me:

Harry "Caos" - mental Brazillian electro/punk gubbins. Brill track on here called "Adeptos" which sounds like the JAMC gone mad.

Smack "Ao Vivo No Mosh" - great angular punk - almost like a Brazillian Gang Of Four. Two standouts "Eternidade" and "Mediocridade Afinal" (as comped by Soul Jazz a couple of years ago).

Las Canoplas "Batman" - another odd one, quirky mix of disco and punk stuff - bit too much saxophone but overall a great listen.

Also picked up a few others, including Sobrecarga on CBS which seems a bit more straightforward on first listen with a bit of a Cure influence.
Then hit the record fair in Camden and found a stall giving away records for "a small donation". Picked up Judy Mackenzie "Peace And Love And Freedom" - nice Christian folk from '71 - very classy and some lovely tunes, the first Ray Charles LP on London, a Swingle Singers thing from '65, a great Chess Comp "Modern Jazz Today" with tracks from Lou Donaldson, Ramsey Lewis etc and a bonkers 7" called "Hear And Now" which seems to be an educational disc of 20th Century music for schools. Elsewhere, I also picked up Jimmy Campbell's "Son Of Anastasia" on Fontana. Not cheap especially, but a few great tracks on here including a retread of 23rd Turnoff's "Michaelangelo".

I think that song 'bang on a drum' as heard on the forum kids comp- is really excellent...I'd love to find this in the wild
"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)

Durham Oxfam provided me with mine.

And a chazzer in the centre of town turned up the Rupert Bear and the Firebird LP for me this morning!

    Kid-frenzy!

If I had to opt for ONE track that encapsulates it, it'd be The Craig's "I must be Mad".

Or The Red Squares' "You can be my baby"

Or maybe The Alan Pounds' Get Rich Quick.

    Oh yes.

    You'd probably hate it, Alan.

    I had a good weekend.
    I went into a volcano.
    I swam with needlefish.
    I washed my car.
I cooked salt cod with onions and garden peas.
and I found some records at a bootsale, which hasn't happened for a very long time.
    they were:
A Dr who themes album from the 80s.
Comic Cuts - old music hall pieces such as The Laughing Policeman.
that Lloyd Alexander Real Estate 45 on President.

Plus that crap Joy Sarler Mr Punch single, two 45s by Second City Sound and some other stuff I've forgotten.

The Sunforest, unfortunately, is a reissue, but it doesn't bother me too much as it's not a strong LP all the way through. Infact, save for "Game for all who know", it's decidely average. It's well worth having on the strength of that track alone, though.
Dont forget Magician in the mountain ..... great bass on that beast...

$8 for a St Silver Apples..... good job, I remember getting an original last Christams from my old girlfreind and when I enquired how much the answer ... Dont Ask was muttered.

I think you answered that yourself. no records for me this weekend - other than about 15 soul/jazz 45s on ebay last night.

If it's Live In Paris definitely pick it up - really fierce vocals from the Ikettes on that one.

BTW re: Patty Duke - I've got one of those albums and I didn't care for it much but peechee, know what you mean about her influence - have you got that lovely late 90s tribute 7", Your Favourite Patty Hits? Got Rose Melberg, Gaze etc on it, comes with a free comb, as twee as can be but very lovely. The Softies. Now there was a good band. I like the look of that Han River Angels too.

For me, just one LP from PDSA - a Greek woman called Xapis from 1980. Sadly she isn't - as hoped - South Eastern Europe's answer to Sheila B Devotion or Kati Kovacs, but more like a Greek Renee or Renato (whichever one was the lady).

I do have those Patty Tribute 7"s. There's a few of them. And they're exactly the bands i was talking about. Softies are awesome. I'm trying to convince my Marine Girls/Young marble Giants loving friends that there isn't that much to seperate them, except maybe a little sugar.

That Han River Angels 7" is the bomb. You might wanna look it up on Youtube as all 4 tracks are on there. No moving images, but it gives you the idea.
The same user who posted that video also has a bunch of Dara Puspita LP's posted. These are expensive LP's now, but just you wait until word of mouth spreads their story further. Oh my...possibly the best female garage out there.

The vocal-lite version of Madame Butterfly is fantastic. It's called 'Madame Butterfly mini-tro' if memory serves. Any idea what that's about??

all the instrumentals on the album are named that way (e.g. give me the sunshine (mini-tro)), no idea why, and googling the term gets you to, erm, the Leo's Sunhipp album. none of them are complete instrumentals, they're all missing the lead vocals, but backing vocals are in place.

sorry to be of no help whatsoever.

Apparently they only recorded four songs before lead singer Kenny Simon popped his clogs of cancer. So they had to pad the album out a bit.
