Sounding nice. Nice mellow late night vibes at the minute.

While you're here DK, a few of us on the board were wondering where that Bernard Wystraete version of 'Daydream' originates. There's a thread here. Any info appreciated unless it's

We are Still Setting up the Station So you will experience downtime every now and then till the Weekend. This is due to us setting up the Mics in the Studio and updating the Playlist to give you new rotation songs everyday. We will be saving all the Sick shit for the Mix Shows.

Keep checking back during the day for the broadcast and check Strictly Breaks for the Mixshow times shortly.

We are still also Debating wether or not we will be 24/7.

Remember, You will Need either Real Player, Winamp, i-Tunes or another MP3 player that streams audio over the internet to Hear the Station. If you don't have an MP3 Player that streams audio over the internet or If the Station is not broadcasting at a certain time, you may get an error message when Trying to Connect.

To download a Free MP3 Player that Streams audio over the internet go to one of the following...

    Real Player http://www.real.com/
    WinAmp http://www.winamp.com/
    i-Tunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

or you can search the Download section at cnet

The Station is Still Broadcasting. Should we bother to keep it going? I don't see much interest here. It takes Time and Energy to do this for Free.
We may convert to Country Music instead.

Takes time and energy to track down and pay the original artists too...

You're comps are good, Dusty, but while just about everyone making these kind of records back in the day either stopped or went legit and now produce some fine comps with lots of extra details, you continue to boot - despite having built up a large fan base.

The general view is back then, early&mid-90s and earlier, break comps were fairly underground and nutured a growing scene, your comps came in as that wave was ending. Today there is simply no excuse for booting anymore - communications are too advanced now and most of these artists know they have new audiences.

All this radio stuff obviously takes time and effort - but if you wanna give something back, why don't you go legit?

We went legit 5 years ago Dude when we got our new distribution deal. You can't have a major distribution deal putting out Bootlegs. So YES we are Legit. But, I still don't think the Artists are getting paid, but their publishing companies are. Thats also why we started the Web-Site and Promotion as well.

But I give you an A for Effort and B for Nice try.

If YOU want to Give back to the Artists, stop sharing the Dusty Finger records on Soul Seek.

My absolute apologies, Dusty Kid, wasn't trying to rile you there... There wasn't a geat deal of coverage about you going legit, so again, my apologies for reaching the wrong conlcusion. I'll be sure to check in on the next radio show, keep up the good work - and I'm not a Soulseek user...

No Problem Man, I didn't mean to come back at you hard or anything.

Here is something to think about though, David Axelrod.
From what we have been told from a certain producer that works close with Dr Dre that is close to us, is that Dr Dre used the The Edge from our Dusty Fingers to make the initial Next Episode track.

So if this is true, that means David Axelrod is a Happier Man now thanks to our records. So an artist did get paid back (besides shitty publishing checks). Dr Dre also used Various other Dusty Fingers Tracks to make Hit records. Noticed how Dre's Style has changed since the Dusties came out? No more Parliment records.

I'm not saying Dre can't afford to buy the originals by the Store loads and that he has to resort to Dusty Fingers to get good tracks. But sometimes it takes a good selection of originals on a comp to make a producer open up their eyes. Plus a Big Dog like Dre can't Sit down for Years Listening to Records to find the kind of joints we drop.

I've heard many different versions of that story, DK. Most credible one is probably from Mark, who sells beats to producers like Finesse, Pete Rock etc, and even mentions the story on a Radio 1 documentary: Your good friend Jared had a pile of the McCallum LP, sold a copy to all the producers who come down TSL for beats, including one of Dre's producers - basically, for anyone not aware, it came down to a race, which of course Vic won, then the Dre release came along a year later. Obviously the beat was too hot for just an Indie to hold...

Anyway, that one's an interesting topic, check the radio doc yourself Âhere: About 21 mins in.

Personally, I can't understand why it took so long for someone to use that record, Axelrod was hot shit for years before everyone went apeshit over the McCallum LP...

The whole "boots' place in assisting scenes" topic is a well worn one. There's more people around here who were directly involved in that issue Âthan you probably realise, but it's always interesting to hear new angles on old tales.

    Cheers! Â

Why not put the artist real name on it, this would help the artist

So Why do You Think that McCallum record got so Hot all the Sudden? Why do you think allot of records get hot all the Sudden?

Does one dealer say this is the Hot record and the whole world agrees? I really can't disbelieve that story about everyone rushing to get that stack of McCallum records. I've seen it happen in the past. We've known Steve, Rob, Jered and all for a long time and there has been a few times they had multiple copies of a record and sold it to multiple producers. But do all the Producers call each other and say "Hey I got this Record today too"? Then the big rush to use it first begins?

I can tell you this for a fact, a good portion of the time when we drop an obscure original on a Dusty it increases the street value and the Demand for the Original. I see it happen a lot of times. When a new Dusty is about to drop like now, all the Hottest producers go straight to the Distributors to get a copy before anyone else does. The distributors tell us this all the Time and the list of Producers is Long and would probably shock most of you.

I can tell you this, Dre used 3 songs off 2 of our Comps right after they dropped. Also, everytime our friend that works with Dre goes up to Dre's House, Dre asks him to bring our latest Comps with him.

So it all adds up to me. But I could be way off?

Blimey DK, what time is it over there? Don't you ever sleep?!

Ah, so J got hip to that LP through yours eh? Makes sense to me too... Nice work. So do you have to keep the tracklistings top secret until they hit the distributers?

Its 5am I'm about to go to Sleep.

I cant say J got hip on McCallum from ours. They are very good diggers and find real good stuff. They put us up on a lot of stuff in the very beginning. It could be pure coincidence that they got that Stack right after we dropped it.

As far as keeping Tracklistings a Secret before dropping, its a Must.

True, but he still took a big bite out of the Fatback Band's Backstrokin' landing him in some hot water. ÂTalking of that, wonder who found the Lata Mangeshkar track that made Addictive, tough one that.

The Eve, Gwen Stefani track has me stumped though anyone know where the keys came from?

Second that. Must've missed it. DK, are your shows live? Is there a way to re-broadcast for the a.m GMT, for all us Brits looking for morning mind stimulation?
