    Default weekday finds: december 18th

scored at salvation army last night:

john cacavas- 'the space alphabet' (you can't even take how groovy this one track is on here... 'helium and hydrogen!' duuuuuude...)
george shearing- 'the way we are' (huge break opens a really swinging and latinesque version of 'aquarius' on this one. plus it's autographed!)
jimmy swaggart- 'the plague' (jerry lee stories infiltrate the sermon on this one!)

sorry, i never do these threads when i score anything. i figured i should start since i'm currently unemployed

Milton paxao e fe seems to be a comp, has para lennon e mcartney and tudo que voce podia ser but no cravo e canela mint condition lp too.

Milton banana this i've had before but not for ages as they always want crazy money for it it's basically piano led instrumental jazz but the 1st track is fantastic no breaks or ill hip hop head noddin dusty fingers crap just a great piece of music.

No need to apologise, & thanks for putting the date in the title, these finds threads of late with random titles have been leading to 3 or more running as recent finds at the same time.

Been a while since i posted to a finds thread in either VG+ or Waxi.

Most of these are from the field, but naturally, the Bolly is from eBay.
I need to educate myself a little more because there's definitely some dross here and it was sad to get home and realise that neither do i like, or am I able to sell those that i do not like. Naymind.....still some goodies. The Louise Forestier is sublime!

why the winky? I think it's actually pretty good. Used to go for top dollar but i think the interest has died out now. Still a worthwhile acquisition for anyone with the slightest interest in sunshine(ish) pop.

I think it was a knowing wink rather than a sarcy wink, if you know what I mean. Damn these ambiguous emotes

(Apart from perhaps the Bolly) I don't see anything there that no-one would go for. If you can't sell them on Ebay or at a bootsale (are they called that in the USA?), try trading them on VG+.

Is the John Fahey reasonably easy to find over there (for a cult US artist that is)?

I was picky with what i shared. I didn't photograph the Diga record. Ugh!

I've seen the Fahey a few times, but it's often had a ding that's made me think twice about picking it up. Not ever seen it for much less than $20 but i don't doubt for one moment that it would make its way into a thrift store.

Last time i saw a copy in the UK was in Sound machine in Reading. It was going for 30 pounds. Ach...Balleur English prices.

Well, well. I bought my copy from there! Not for 30 quid mind you. I think it was 12. Either way, sublime record (did you get the book?)

The McCoy Tyner is also very nice. Good finds alround I'd say.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.

First record I've bought in weeks, but its a doozy:

I know he has fans on here - it's not that rare or anything, but it's the first one I've seen in the wild in a long time

Perhaps with the exception of this board, :sarcasm: usually brings up a winky. As your fellow poster indicated, it's ambiguous. No harm meant.

Froze my nads off for a last shuffle at the local charities - quite glad I did:

'Bang Bang you're Terry Reid' LP on epic - a US LP - was this one released in the UK?

Yma Sumac - Mircales - nice UK spare of the bonkers psych and wailing LP with Les Baxter at the controls

David Snell - Harp Transplant - not had this before, on Pye 4D so how could I resist.

Pretty good for a last hurrah!!

good things, Mr Boney sir. Heads Up! is top, great version of "good humour man" as sampled by UMCs all those decades ago... far superior to the Freddie Hubbard version to these ears.

    some other top stuff too.

Nice finds, Boney - and welcome to Fela Kuti status.

This bunch came from a charity shop in Bristol. 34 records in all for a tenner all in. Proper old skool prices. Not a vintage haul; these are the best. Sadly the Aretha stuff is a little battered. The one with the sleigh is an excellent Columbia Christmas box. Johnny Cash nuzzles up against Percy Faith and Doris Day. Class. Just the right soundtrack to finish wrapping those presents. Pass the egg-nog.....

Hi - It's a Pete Seeger LP, on Folkways, as you correctly state.
American Favorite Ballads Tunes & Songs - Sung by Pete Seeger (5 string banjo & 12 string guitar). (Volume Three).
Lovely packages these Folkways LP eh.

    Thanks for the info!
Most are worth the money for the design alone I think. Ronald Clyne has the magic touch.

here's some trades i got from the good brothers over at SOULSTRUT:

on first listen the BALTIK sounds pretty good meaty drums to go with the dodgy fusion rock. and the DICK HYMAN is a brilliant moog album ...
