This for about a week now / from the Chet Baker man? / woman ? school of vocals...it's a much about the musicians backing him as it is about the singing here...totally incredible production too - taken me a few years to fully realise how amaxing it actually is.

well, now i appear to own it (for the time being) i might at least give it a spin.
Arrived on Friday, listened to nothing else since. It's all amazing, but the music for 'Freelance' is incredible!
ooooooooooh, that's lovely. nice pot of tea, some random snacks, pile of dull work and this splendid record.

and the work continues with
Some of it's nice enough (decent montuno that's a touch over-billed as "El Monstruo"), but the two slower tracks on it (one a cover of Teddy Randazzo's "Going Out Of My Head", the other "Love's Nobody's Friend") are absolutely sublime. the trio of femme vocalists on it (The Revue) make them, eh, swing.
Must put together a mix of stuff like this, that Sally Stevens tune and suchlike. Not this year, obviously.![]()

Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding
Ordered my copy two weeks back - and nothing yet!
Very annoying.
I've been listening to this a lot today . . .
Soulful stoner bluegrass business from '74 that gets quite psychedelic in places.
It's also the last recording Clarence White made before he was killed by a drunk driver aged only 29!![]()
To infinity - and beyond!
I've been listening to this
Wow

"Record collecting is no mere hobby, no innocuous leisurely diversion. It is a feverish passion bordering on dementia, driving those under the influence to irrational, compulsive, fanatical extremes."
Night of the Living Vinyl
I Confess 45s
After side 1 melted my head off with awesomeness - -side 2 is destroying my brain with wordless rhythmic screeching! (and it sounds like bits of the Akira soundtrack... my only frame of reference for this sort of thing)
Cheers Iain.

Even with a crackly copy - -this is such a great listen. Can't get enough of Reich/ Glass stuff. Any recommendations of similar-ish stuff very much appreciated.
What is it??
Thanks to Blue Burt's recommendation 'Now's the Time' was near the turntable all w/e. An interesting lp by the Genadi Goldstein Quartet & the Konstantin Nosov Quintet, released 15-20 years after being recorded. My favourite track is the long one on the b-side which seems to cover quite a bit of ground stylistically.
Also been hammering the Bare Wires and Sielun Veljet, the latter still haven't quite settled for me, getting there though I could do with some liner notes and help with the lyricsI also recently found out Paul Metzger's a fan of them.
"Cover condition:Is perfect except on back cover theres an area of dirty smudge dont know what it is and covers a bit wrinkled which im sure could be flattened out"

Geino Yamashirogumi
and reading a bit about them, it looks like they did actually do the music for the Akira film... so that explains that!

It's kinda like a fusion of "Hair" and a slow downward spiral into hell.![]()
Side one is ace.![]()
"Sometimes I get a hot ear..."
Pop Has Eaten Tchaikovsky
I have got my US import of the BLACK SWAN soundtrack by Ex PWEI front man Clint Mansell.
It's really quite a scary listen (as most would say PWEI records are) as the music of Tchaikovsky is sucked into the creepy unease of Mansells variations.
I don't think the movie is going to be a laugh riot judging by this...have to wait until Feb 2011 to see it.
It's hard to believe the same chap that can be seen on YouTube circa 1988 dancing with his leather pants around his ankles on stage with Gaye Bykers On Acid Has come so far. There is hope for us all.
'The Wildest Music From The Wildest Party Ever Filmed!'
&
'Interzone'...John Zorn's tribute to Burroughs and Gysin...which has some great passages of play...
