Great melancholy Scottish indiepop band whose sound is somewhere between the Go-Betweens and the Blue Nile.

Soundtrack to operation clean the hoose...

Brian Sands - Fixation (Bizart Records) - Never tire of this LP although not dug it out for a while - odd 80s SSW with quirks... an nod to Bowie

Smog - Julius Ceasur (Drag City) - Really fantastic Bill Callahan early LP - not so much low-fi as primative beats and acoustic tunes - great lyrics too

    Thomas Hill - Ingredients (Mercury)
    - odd quirky 70s SSW chiller

Jim and Dale - 86% of Us (United Artists) - top double act - mix of originals and cover - flows just a treat

Erik - Look Where I Am (Vanguard) - Quality slice of psych grooves with a hint of introspection - almost perfect mix of elements for a Sunday

Osanna - Milano Calibro 9 (Seven Seas) - top bit of Italian prog OST - flows perfectly in mood

Ennio Morricone - Una Lucertola Con La Pelle Di Donna (Dagored) - Could only follow Osanna with the bit of Morricone - not had this on for ages - great shift in mood through out and some super tension builds...

Peter Wyngarde - Jason King from Department "S" (RCA) - bit of good nonsense next - not played this for a year or so - you do wonder where his head was at times...

Psychic TV - Force the hand of chance (WEA) - maybe the link to the Peter Wyngarde LP isn't by chance - described on one blog as, "an almost seamless mixture of industrial dissonance, ethnological sorcery/forgery and the most beautiful pop songwriting" - it is

Reminiscence Quartet - Psycodelico (Yellow Productions) - beats from the 90s - latin vibe - "Onde Anda O Meu Amor" cover is just mind blowing

Letta - Letta (Chisa Records) - "Mahlalela (Lazy Bones)" - does it get much better on the opening track front - rest of the LP is great too...

Last night I was browsing through my collection, picking up few random records I haven't listened in ages..and both of these sounded still good to these ears

Having a spot for the classical themed jazz albums I picked up a cheap copy of this last week - and it's quite enjoyable actually, especially the more stripped down side 2..

Cor! there's an album I haven't heard in a very long time..! Will have to go dig it out. Has a little bit of reminiscing significance as I bought it from a shop boasting four million 45's. I came out with an LP.

Nice - and surprisingly cheap as it seems - besides being well-known - her records are much in demand in Estonia..ie. I've seen a copy of Marju Kuut's 10" (PS) with a hefty price tag of 200 Euro, listed by an Estonian private dealer whose pricing seems reasonable in general...
