Ronnie Laws was the original (mid-70's, Incognito was early 90's)

    - my first Odetta album and enjoying it quite alot.

Incognito - Always There (Talking Loud 7")
Quality jazz-funk and only 25p from Haggle Vinyl. Ronnie Laws did a version but dunno which one is the original.
Always There was also done by Willie Bobo (try and get the 12" ), Pleasure and a few others. Incognito were not the first. a google search/ check the credits on the 45 will turn up the originator.

    get "Odetta Sings".

I bought the double CD - with the extra disc being quite good. Does the vinyl just have the regular 21 tracks?
Errr... well....... I have to confess I bought the regular CD version - didn't know there was a special edition....

But I do have to point out there are 22 tracks, not 21 (hence the title of the album)... SORRY - MY MISTAKE - THE LONG TITLE OF ONE TRACK THREW ME THERE.... 21 IT IS...

Got an original of this cheapish a while back - it's great, isn't it? Also found a couple of the 45s at a Bristol record fair in a 50p box, weirdly.

This morning I have been mostly listening too:
Mogwai Fear Satan, from the mighty Young Team lp

    and

You're Still My Woman - B B King, ace laid back grooves with strings
Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding

No poster, unfortunately - I think that's why it was cheap!

Ive had an EGREM CD by Cachao called Superdanzones on pretty much permanent rotation recently. I'd love this stuff on vinyl but searching hasn't turned it up.
It's from 1961, it's unbelievably good and very different from the descargas and heavy salsa he's known for. This was, I think, aimed at a domestic Cuban dancehall market. Each track starts with meandering flute, violin and piano passages which are thrillingly played, and then later the band kick into a proud, strutting montuno riff, sometimes with revolutionary slogans sung over the top.
I ironed half my wardrobe to this last night.

Brilliant tune. Probably their best record. The remixes 12" [Surgeon / MBV] is worth hearing too.

I see they've released a new version of the album with extras. Wonder if they're any good?

Careful there..the varnish and any protruding metal fixings or decorations could seriously damage your iron base with that kind of misuse....

"What Put The Blood" by Directing Hand
A strange folk / freeform jazz hybrid.
It's bloody marvellous - fantastic vocals and drums.

    Great cover too:

Had this on all day today.

A real grower of a record. Sparse, spare and very very lovely.
She has a strangely haunting voice and the songs feel deep and creased and ragged and open and full of love and loss and longing.

Digging the minimal flute as well.

Eric-Adams: you need this if you don't have it already.

Got this a few weeks ago and wasn't really 'feeling' it.

Hit the spot nicely this evening though.
