A pdf is a kind of picture format, even if it is multi-pages. It is not like a word document where pictures are 'inserted'. Therefore your best bet is to use any picture opening software you might have - ie. Photoshop - and open the pdf in that. Usually you will be asked to select which page you want to open, if there are more than one, and then save as jpg.... If you have a full version of adobe Acrobat (the pdf reader and creator software) you can directly save file as a jpg.... A shorthand way of doing it (at least on a mac) is to use the 'grab' feature (or something similar) which takes a screen-grab, or window-grab and saves as a low resolution image.

You could just open the pdf then do a print screen - then just paste this into any image editor.

I saw a program in pcworld on the weekemd called something like pdf convert (?) It was 30 quid or so and would extract data from a pdf and turn it into a word doc.
whether it'll work for you is another thing. I didn't really take much notice of it as I was lloking for a firewire cable, but I didn't know there were such porgrams.
