Default Eclectic Mud, Edinburgh, Saturday 12th July

    Hello one and all...

Eclectic Mud time again, but this time with a twist!

My partner in sound Meester Lee B. cannot attend this months Mud bath, so I've drafted in not one, not two, but three fine fellows to fill his hobnailed boots.

Messrs Dave and Glenn return to the Eclectic decks.... and have already promised / threatened a mix of pan European little known 60's beat and 70's pop, with no doubt just a little garage fuzz thrown in for good measure. Just the way we like it fellas.

Also guesting for the first time at Eclectic Mud will be DJ Bongoboy, AKA Robbie, the Captain of the Project Moonbase radio show that graces Sunday evenings on Leith FM.

He'll more than likely he'll be bringing the space aged, bachelor pad, moogified, electronic, latin business for us all to wallow in.

Oh, and there might be a little room for me to chip in with the usual monthly catch dredged from charity shops far and wide, as well as that internet thingy...

    Now firmly ensconced at:

    The Southern, 22 - 26 South Clerk Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9PR. www.thesouthern.co.uk

    Eclectic Mud

    SATURDAY 12th JULY

As always it's totally *FREE*, starting at 9.00pm, running until 1.00am.

Guaranteed to reach parts of the musical spectrum you've never heard before!

Music, 57 varieties, played on vinyl, loud, just like it should be.

Come, tell your friends to come, tell your friends to tell their friends to come...

Many thanks, Fuz, for the invite.

Despite the fact that I do my little radio show on a Sunday night it must be at least 10 years since I "played out" anywhere and it was a pleasure to be able to spin some of my favourite tunes again.

It's a shame that the population of Scotland appeared to have gone to T in the Park for the weekend, leading to the emptiest pub I think I've ever seen on a Saturday night, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening nevertheless.

    In approximate order, I played:

Richard Hayman - Dansero (Genuine Electric Latin Love Machine)
The Moog Machine - Spinning Wheel (Switched-On Rock)
Piero Umiliani - Beer, Vermouth e Gin (Svezia Inferno e Paradiso)
The Three Suns w/King Curtis - Swingin on a Star (Swingin on a Star)
Chaquito - Un Otra Vez (Spotlight On Chaquito)
Emil Richards - Happy Together (New Time Element)
Lenny Dee - Georgie Girl (Moving On!)
Enoch Light's Action - The Last of the Wine (It's Happening ... So Let's Dance!)
Robert Maxwell - The Breeze and I (Shangri-La)
The Ray Charles Singers - Hawaiian War Chant (Paradise Islands)
    Los Admiradores - Caravan (Bongos/Flutes/Guitars)

Track of the night went to Dave's Dutch version of "They're Coming To Take Me Away" which the rest of us felt compelled to give a round of applause to afterwards. Truly barking stuff.
