"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)

It's not very comprehensive...doesn't really scratch the surface of the UK made guitars, either- no soloist, duotone, shadow, ace (either type), clubman

Nice to see a really angry looking man modelling the guitars - he looks like you've caught him in the middle of something and now he's going to have to kill you.

that sort of console is actually extremely common (or was! ) from the late 60's,on. generally produced by the likes of citronic and FAL and housing a pair of garrard SP25 decks. There were quite a lot of them about with a cassette deck built in. Before that, there were lots of organs with a small mono tape deck built in too, presumably for the aspiring klaus wunderlichs to make demos more easily!

This man is entirely out of proportion, with a head so large and feet so small it's small wonder he has to perch on the nearest Vox Amp.

This one was what was in place at the Sol-Y-Sombra in the mid 80's - host to many great club nights including Paul Murphy's Friday night "murder one" sessions.

"Citronic is a well respected name in professional audio and had a large range of products. This is an early 1980s Hawaii console with a rather nice wooden case. Once again Garrard turntables are fitted"

A friend of mine had the Vox organ guitar, sold it for about £200 in the mid 80's, must be mega rare now? One of the best books on UK guitars is The Burns Book by Paul Day - might be long out of print, but it is FAB! Mine is falling to bits as I bought it mail order from the man himself in the 80's. Just got it out and it's from 1979, no ISBN, guess it's the Bay if you want one folks!! If you like vintage guitars, I would seek, it lists all Burns and Baldwin models, as well as the later Hayman.
I took out a loan to buy a 1965 Baldwin Jazz Split Sound when I was 17, I couldn't play and tried to learn but failed.... I just wanted it. I had to get my dad to sign off the loan and when my girlfriend [now wife] found out I was in deep shit I had to sell it about 10 years later [and 2 kids later] due to money shit. Funny thing is my wife didn't want me to sell it then, but it had to go. By the way it was never wasted, like an unplayed record, my brother used it in numerous bands. Wish I still had it though 24 years later......

I have a very tragic Burns "loss" story to tell [involving a close friend and 2 beasts] if anyone is interested, bet youain't lol.....
    For folks sake!

Someone offered me a Burns Vista Sonic for fifteen quid when I was 11 (not long ago enough for that to have been much money) and I turned it down, and I just heard from a guy who's tourbus ran over their guitarists Burns Sonic

Vista Sonic!!! Very nice! I was offered a tatty Sonic, early 80's, £150 then, nice tweed case though. Turned it down, I was 17 and skint...... The running over business sounds horrific!

About ten years ago I had a sky blue Burns Sonic Bass (at least I think that was the model) dating from the early 60s. It was quite a striking-looking guitar, but it was so small compared to my more usual Jazz Bass that I found it awkward to play and I sold it to Liam at Toe Rag, the vintage recording studio here in London. He was doing The Bristols at the time, a (mostly) studio combo playing covers of 60s pop tunes, all on vintage instruments. Last time I visited the studio there was an array of Burns Sonics on the wall - collect the set!
