Default weekend finds - 6/7 DEC

let's have a shiny new thread for the weekend - are people still buying vinyl in the run up to xmas?? i shouldnt be (but i did anyway!!) - -these are from a mixture of shops, set sales and trades:

BUBLEGUM MACHINE (quite fun bubblegum psych pop stuff. .. soem open drums and an ace version of sgt peppers..)
GAL COSTA - "india" (ive been wary of her later output but this is excellent - - a few oddball funky bombs, and lots of lovely strings)
PETULA CLARK (easily found in a quid bin near you - -JamesF hipped me to the ace version of "bang bang" on here)
EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND (crackly but cheap - really fun, maybe the best one ive heard by them)
WHITE DENIM - "workout holiday" (new record alert!! stumbled across some footage of the mon you tube and was blown away - -fucking great band)
RAS G - "afrikan space program" (new instro LP in the vein of flying lotus, samiyam etc... has a bizarre track sampling the Millenium's "the island")
MULTIPLICATION ROCK (thought it was about time i owned a copy of this - my GF who is studying to be a primary teacher effing loves it!!)
GARY MCFARLAND & GABOR SZABO - "simpatico" (very jangly and fun)
EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND (soem sort of german comp?? dotn knwo the deal with this, btu i dotn recognise many of the songs - is it a collection of their singles?? - either way, "evil" is nice)
AU PAIRS (post punk for a quid)
JOHNNY HALLYDAY (i bought the wrong hallyday/faces live LP - this one sucks!)
    PRINCE (not listened yet)

    plus some 45's:

ANTOINE & LES PROBLEMES (again, James alerted me to this the other night - "dodecaphonie" is a killer mod cut)
FRANCIS LAI - "la lecon particuliere" EP (2 monster moddy organ tracks - "i dont know why" is brilliant)
SANTA MARIA - "le terre brulee" (mad heavy rock)
RATTLES - "you cant have sunshine everyday" (brilliant - check out the youtube video)
LES SUNLIGHTS (1 good track - speedy garage jerk "c'est fini")
KEEF HARTLEY - "leave it till morning" (what a great song!)
    CCS - "brother" (spare)
STRAWBS - "lay down" (terrible - has a heavier cut on the flip which still isnt great)
FRED BOGUSTO (i hate this record and resent the amount i spent on it!! took a punt while buying a bunch of other stuff and predictably got outbid on all except this- so got stung on the greedy euro postage...)
JACQUELINE TAIEB - "sept heures du martin" (stoned circus reissue - are these things legit? doubtful)
WHITE DENIM - "lets talk about it" (thought i shoudl grab the 45 aswell - another good youtube video for this)
RESONANCE - "ok chicago" (euro wah wah funk - nto my cup of tea but it cost bugger all!)

    - -it doesnt sound like the worst record in the world - but someone posted an all-hallyday mix (that was amazing) on waxidermy a while back, and half of it was culled from a live LP with he small faces - - not this one obviously

sounds interesting. have a couple of late 60s/early 70s 45s by him which are great, but always wondered what else might be good by him, beside all the crap he recorded...

the track 'psychedelic' on his lets go to san francisco EP is great and i'm sure he turns in a cool version of 'hush' too...he used the 'state of mickey and tommy' to back him on a lot of better recordings

Any idea what money the Small Faces involved one goes for John? A friend of mine had it but when he sold his entire collection to a dealer he only allowed me to nab a few things and I didn't get the Halliday LP.

Not many decent records out and about lately but picked these up yesterday. The Aberdeen Students Charities record is a version of Lennon/McCartney’s You Wont See Me. In the book it has a link to the group Complex. Can anyone enlighten me as to the connection? I can’t find anything about the record or the connection on the web.

Know nothing about this promotion single, again any idea who plays on this?

Check out Paul Simon, groovy beads.

The best find of the day for me, Isley Brothers – This Old Heart of Mine.

Well maybe, this one is a grower, Rocky Roberts – Stasera Mi Butto. vladislav.

All from the friendly guy at the flea market this morning who always jokes that I'm probably making a fortune off him on ebay, except for the Scotty Young at the top left; always a bit of a puzzle coming across something like this in a charity shop, a record described by someone on waxi as 'Strata East style spiritual jazz' - it's pretty good, although not notably spiritual to my ears - a Scottish bass player recording in LA on 'Space Administration' records; any more info would be appreciated.

Otherwise pleased with the Buck Owens, and what I wouldn't give for one of those jackets - the Sarah Vaughan is an Argentine pressing of the Divine One - the song titles are given in Spanish, making me think I'd found a real oddity, but sung in English

Went out diggin' after a week buying no records, last week my hands and feet where still hurting from Utrecht , there wasn't much out there, prob most people are busy with christmas.

Morrissey Mullen Badness ... Decent UK Jazzfunk
Ken Munson Super flute ... Break after break an excellent album of funky flute! This one's right up there with the best work by Jeremy Steig
Fausto Papetti No.14 ... Excellent version of Slipping into darkness
The Gun Club Miami ... American punk
The Gun Club Deathparty ... 12" Inch
The Gun Club Fire of Love ... The Gun Club's debut
Blue Mitchell Bantu Village ... One of the funkiest albums ever on Blue Note RE
Pharoah Sanders Karma ... "The Creator Has a Master Plan" track is one of the finest and best-executed jams ever caught on record
    Wu-Tang 36 Chambers ... ??? What should I say
    Klaus Schulze Live
OST / The Oceans The Supersnooper ... Pretty boring disco soundtrack produced by Bionda, maybe two songs are OK
