    Default Weekend Finds 13 / 14 December

Thought I'd start a thread as I actually found something at the carboot this morning

Nice UK orig of Fat Albert Rotunda - I have the silver covered issue as a spare now, cool Gary Burton foooosion from 1967! A VV / VG+ classic which I couldn't leave behind in such minty nick and a the Sergio with 'Superstition' on it - I thought I was minting up but this is only marginally better than my other copy - still OK for 50p though

Postbox finds - Really enjoying the Mutzie - Dennis Coffey is involved and it shows! The Apple and Appleberry aint my thing, the New Trolls is very good - proper Orch Prog and the Group Image is a mixed bag - the fuzzy fast ones are cool but the ponderous ones are a bit weak I feel.

Bit of a quiet record fair on Saturday with a couple of stallholders pulling out due to terrible weather, but managed to pull a dozen 50p 45s, of which these are the highlights:

    Danta 'Freeway' slightly tatty spare

Foster Sylvers 'Misdemeanour' - didn't realise there was a UK 45 of this top kiddy soul track.

Pryde 45 - first time I've ever seen this VG+ staple and top bagpipe beat.

A few cheap LPs from the '4 for a tenner' selection:

Ronnie Hawkins from 1971, Hedge & Donna decent folk, 'The Ship', another folk-rock affair which I haven't played yet, late Association LP.

Not in the '4 for a tenner' section, unfortunately, but not a bad price:

Mike Westbrook 'Metropolis' on Neon - another UK jazz gap filled!

and a few nice UK 45s from Friday:

Golden Earrings with nice popsikey B-side

Troggs 'Evil Woman' acetate - a bit tatty but...

Gurus 'Blue Snow Night' - a favourite and a replacement for my US copy.

Dana Gillespie 'You just gotta know my mind' - At last!

Mmmm.. reminds me - several years ago I inherited The Ship from my mum. I kept some J:son Lindh, Johnny Cash and the Nancy&Lee and some other stuff. This one was among the ones I traded in for something or another in a shop. Please tell me it's crappy - or at least if it's good that it isn't really rare. I quite suspect some of the things I traded away might've actually been more to my liking today than back then when I considered most things "folk" to be quite boring...

I listened to it earlier - I liked it, very CSN&Y overall. Not rare though, as far as I can tell.

I concur! Super 'demo-disc' label! Wonder if the acetate is the same take/mix as the issue...

Just the one for me this week.

Can't be arsed to take a pic and the sleeve's not all that anyway, but I got the EMI/Harvest two-fer of Pretty Things 'SF Sorrow' / 'Parachutes' from Selectadisc.

Not pennies, but a decent bargain nonetheless.

    Very, very high quality music.

Now, to sack off this Christmas shopping malarkey and get back to finding some vinyl!

Yeah, you see them everywhere in the States.
I picked one up last time I was over, whilst out with beddoes.
    four or five bucks.

Nice record, imho. Sweet, mellow, early 70s electric folk LP with lush harmonies. And an overall 'theme' to the record as well. 'Concept folk' if you will!

    A few bits:

Gloria Lasso a Mexico (45 ep) Apparently Gloria was a big star back in the day in France. Music very much of its time (60's), the track "La Mosquita Muerta" is good fun.

Orlando (45 ep) Another French ep with a song entitled "La Amour Fait La Loi" (Apache).
    Yes, that Apache

Gino and Lucille - Bamba Disco (12") Oh yes, this rocks

The Gospelaires of Dayton, O - God Helps Those Who Help Themselves (12")
From 1978 a classic bit of uplifting disco. How come it has taken me 30 years to even know this existed Great stuff
Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding

"Peter Gunn" 45 by Johnny Frigo, on Orion. it's a bit beat but 'twas cheap. very Mancini arrangement, which gets louder and more latin as the 1 minute 48 seconds fly past. it also has sax.
