Default OST help: Dankworth "The Idol"/"Various "Taking Off"

These two are currently gathering dust in the racks in my local Disk Union, but are they worth picking up? "The Idol" looks promising, but ain't quite cheap enough to take a punt on, while "Taking Off" has a suitably sleazy cover but contains Carly Simon songs amongst others more promising.
    Anyone got?

Ummm... I have "the Idol". Was a long time since I listened to it but I can't recall being overly impressed. Think it may have even moved to my out-pile but can't remember right now...

The Idol has one great frenetic number, but the rest is quite ordinary from memory.

I needledropped The Idol a bit yesterday. It's mostly very easy-listening like with several tracks utilizing what we in Sweden call "dansbandsbasgång" - and believe me, that's not flattering at all - best described as bass going: "dummm du-dummm dummmm du-dummm".

Yes - one frantic number stood out but not so much that I would call it great. At least not outside the bland context of the other tracks.

In fact: you just helped clear out a little more space in my Expedit by bringing this to my attention...

Thanks Saves me a trip back to the shop, that does. More time to spend on the ten LPs of Godzilla incidental music I picked up last week

It was a very long time since I saw a Godzilla movie - what's the incidental music sound like?

Mainly orchestral stuff, but occasional theremin and odd effects. You can very easily imagine buildings being crushed beneath his feet as you listen.

    Here's some ...
