I've been after a copy of this for years - there are about 4 or 5 decent play-out tracks but it ALWAYS seems to be fiendishly expensive.

It is a good 'un - "warm summer rain" is a particular fave, but the reason it's so expensive is because the Elton John "collectors" are after it too

Yes, Top Gear's inexorable decline began when they stopped using it - marvellous tune, one of Reg's finest works I reckon. 'Theme From An Imaginary TV Series' was also used when Michael Barratt left Nationwide and went on a massively indulgent tour of the UK on a Nationwide-branded train.

Elton was also a pretty damn good organist - somewhere in the BBC archives there's footage of him backing Lou Christie, and he really is excellent.

Full marks to Pitch for doing this, by the way - I like Elton anyway, but 'good music from unexpected sources' is what I've always thought this site and VV before it was all about.

There's also a Jap 45 and indeed a cover 45 from "The Games" - another one on my wants list too James. . . listening to "l'adventure c'est l'adventure" this morning - could do with some more Francis Lai.

It's actually 'Theme from a Nonexistent TV series' - and is one of the tracks above...

Thanks for the kind words ..... Not sure who's next. Any requests?

                  Go on, I dare you

Towny is bound to be impressed

There is a shocking version of Bohemian Rhapsody on the b side of a 12" by Fuzzbox which I'm tempted to put on the next swap

For what it's worth, Queen piss on Elton John any day of the week.

                          Not literally, of course.

Though, thinking about it, they may have done.
                          Back in the day.

                              great chart pitch

Elton's LPs up to Blue Moves are largely decent. Madman Across The Water, Tumbleweed Connection and Captain Fantastic being the pick of 'em.

Thanks - agree with above selection, but self-titled second LP would make that group too.... I will review his 80s - 00s output, just in case there is anything of note (Highland Cow pointed out a couple of instrumentals under the alias Lord Choc Ice which are fun), but don't have particularly high hopes
