Vaguely related - I liked what I heard of that Parasites of the Western World album that Damon found. How was the rest of it?

    Fucking good.

A bit of intrepid googling (ie enter the terms "blog" and "parasites of the western world") should reveal illicit mp3 copies of the same.

Their 2nd lp isn't quite as raw or entertaining, but has one cool track I played out Evil Kitty.

The debut seems far more varied and less slick; the really good track on side 1 is called "Mo", and the start of side deux - "Accessories" - is also most pleasing.

Allegedly these dudes also released a single which I shall have to find. According to the irrefutable oracle of interweb (all hail!) one of 'em is still making music, and has indeed rereleased one of the long players on those wee shiny crow deterring diminutive discs.

I am also contemplating sticking the cover of said debut recording onto a t shaped shirt.

Incidentally if one of you outbid me on the los microwaves lp on ebay today - I'm not happy.

And I blame electro suze for telling everyone how good it is

I agree, the fools theme is never going to compete with the french minimal synth classic, but I like your comparison.

    I'd have been insulted if you'd spent £16.20 - nay - £18.50 inc p & p - on it! We're in the midst of a recession woman!

Or even WORSE - if you'd bought the C-*cough*-D.

Anyway, I don't want it now everyone knows how good it is - the mystique has gone!

Mind you everyone did like that single when I played it. . . rule #7 of djing. . .rip off. . I mean. . .glean inspiration from everyone else's best tunes. . .

I expect you to follow suit and treat us to a "challenging" gabba set at the next Evil Kitty. . . heheh.

Pah! Ill buy the cd for myself, you can have the vinyl copy. Anyway, everyone else only knows about it because you blabbed about how good it was - I merely asked rich if he'd heard it.

Dont worry, I've got some equally cool stuff to hip you to later this evening. And I wont tell a soul...well, not until you start bidding on a copy

Aye, it isnay half bad... a fair chance oh geein' a wee bit jip on yon dance flare...

Alternatively outstanding OST for an all night Autobahn-er to Berlin in a IFA P70 Coupe...

Edit: at the end was quite tempted to go and looked for Hoodlum Priest - "Heart of darkness" - LP - just for the continuum...

All great stuff - that thomas leer and robert rental album is brilliant. I have one anne clarke album, but it's quite gloomy - in the vein of dead can dance maybe. it's not great on first listen, but the song in the link makes me think I should give her another go.

    By the way, can anyone give me a hand identifying the tracks on Datasette's industrial strength mix. It can be downloaded here;

    http://www.datassette.net/?l=mixes

I know P1/E - 49 second romance is on it, and Grauzone's eisbar, but that's about it.

It's been bugging me for AGES!

the mix i just put in the home pruductions section may well qualify as 'maxsynth', quite possibly.

Just spotted this on Stones Throw site

The Minimal Wave Tapes, Vol. 1

sounds pretty good but the samples are annoyingly very short

Still on the lookout for a good hotwave / maximal synth comp though...

    Two tasty links there

This might be of interest Peter Hope & The Jonathan S. Podmore Method - reissue of "Dry Hip Rotation" with the bonus "Kitchenette" 12" on the end of the disk... over here

Even if you are not a CD fan - worth a check to know the vinyl to check out

Not me but some mention of it in this article which looks as though it ought to be interesting and give a good overview of some of the sounds (haven't read it yet though I must admit).

Has anyone identified any good MAXIMAL SYNTH or HOTWAVE tracks as Pitch was looking for yet?

Jungle Wonz is the main thing that makes me think of HOTWAVE
