Yes I understand that is a site for record geeks,I am one myself but the lp's that I posted are difficult to obtain there is no doubt about that. If you couldn't find it on vinyl would you refuse to hear it in another format?
Regardless of the format I just want to hear it,at least have that than nothing,of course the record is more preferable.
I know some of you probably have cdr-s wether you admit to it or not. Recently I was able to hear a Mega Rare LP from the UK,1 known copy exists.

At the risk of sounding churlish, I've noticed that obscurevinyl's posts are always asking for info whether someone has this or that ultra rare album. I've also noticed that obscurevinyl does not take part in any of the other threads on vgplus, or indeed express his/her own interests in trying to hunt down the records he/she seeks, the artists involved etc. It's just something that I noticed, that's all.
Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding

    Aaah yes, the tape swap.

In my defence I never even signed up for it in the first place you know...but my offer to mail the tape on still stands...just pm an address and it's out of here. I can even see it from where I'm sitting right now.

Oh do fuck off, Joe, you have no defence. You should be embarrassed. I asked you to e-mail the Hero to get his details. It's the least you can do, unless you want to see me from where you're sitting right now, smartie pants.

It's my choice wether to take part or start threads,if you don't like it tough shit. My musical taste in records differ from most of you. I've found records on my own, sometimes thru record dealers, record shows, second hand stores, etc. I am warning you don't star a flame war it's a waste of time.

    No flame war intended.
It'd be nice to know a little about yourself, why you chase the type of records you post wants lists for etc.
Just posting want list after want list is a little dry imho. Why do you think you rarely get any response?

It is indeed your choice, and now I'd imagine people feel less inclined to help you out. I certainly do. On the other hand, I'd bend over backwards to help people who regular contribute, offer opinions, start threads (about music or otherwise), chat with me on the regular, share music and let me steal fags at Brillo (hey Barney!) People feel personally invested in this place, and want good contributions. What Medlar wrote is an invitation to take part in this process. You know a shit load about music - why not share it? Post a chart, or upload some MP3s of your favourite songs etc etc. Posts simply asking for MP3s are dry and boring.

I wouldn't be so sure...why not stick up a chart with some tracks you like? Even if you're collecting for obscurity's sake you might be surprised by the knowledge and tastes of some folk on here.

i've deleted my previous post, my questions were interpreted as being inflammatory, last thing i wanted. Medlar, BestDressedChicken, Perretti et al have echoed my original intent.

Nice to see that someone's given this thread a 5 star rating though...

Of the 46 threads you have started on this forum since you joined in May 2006, 44 have been requesting records or CDR's in the wants section.

    The other two were these:

I could understand if your response to Medlar was along the lines of 'I have a very busy work/family/social life and don't have the opportunity to post on the internet much', but writing 'It's my choice wether (sic) to take part or start threads,if you don't like it tough shit' means it is unlikely anyone will want to help you with any future wants you post.

A bit of common courtesy never goes amiss IMHO.

it's OK to head out for wonderful, but on your way to wonderful, you're gonna have to pass through all right. When you get to all right,
take a good look around and get used to it, because that may be as far as you're gonna go.

    Default shit tough

Thanks Al - better keep my wits about me then !
And agreed H,not a leg to stand on - a taker with nothing to offer...he freaks out when he is accused of not offering anything up. Shame because i reckon some of the obscure vinyls he is after look interesting / maybe you could do a chart for us obscure one?

44 threads! Got to admit, I am actually curious what the success rate is - 'cos if it's that obscure, it seems unlikely he'd get many offers. Has anyone actually done any successful trading with matey here? Am kind of wondering why he bothers?

    This is easily solvable.

You're only allowed to post in this section if you reach your 1000th Badger or other popular and totally NRR post

Seriously though- this thread is just embarrassing. It's a wantslist. If you don't like it, ignore it. This ganging up that happens every so often is so amazingly petty.

I suspect most people would ignore once or twice or a dozen but 44!? I don't care massively either - I'm not about to burst in tears over it, either way - but dismissing the fact that other people get a bit peeved is a a bit, um.. dismissive? High traffic message boards with lots of shared projects are communities (for want of a better word), and people involved in them are continuously negotiating standards. I actually find this really interesting in part 'cos I study it for my job, but there. You can argue it's *sad* to care what goes on online, but people do end up caring - it's all a bit weird innit?

Oh dear what have I started? I'm genuinely interested in what makes obscurevinyl chase after these records, that, and the fact I've never heard of any of them!
