Default Checking what prices you'd pay for......

Some real nice vinyl in a local oxfam - but priced quite high..... just wondered what you'd pay for these? Sorry for being rather useless, but prices seem to be all over the place when I check on ebay, discogs, popsike...... all original UKs or USs:

    Gene Clark - White Light
    Gene Clark - S/T
Gene Clark - Roadmaster (dutch original)
    Gene Clark - Two Sides...
Gil Scott-Heron - Winter in America (Strata East)
    Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson - Bridges

If I went for one Gene (I have and love 'No Other') and one Gil - which ones would you recommend?

I love winter in america. A lovely album, his singing on some of the tracks is gorgeous, and peace go with you brother is lovely.

Deffo this Gil LP. Utter classic from the man, 'Peace go with you,Brother', 'Rivers of my fathers', 'Song for Bobby Smith' etc etc. Wonderful.

20-25 GBP for a US OG in nice condition wouldn't seem unreasonable to me, maybe a tad more.

I'd go for 'Roadmaster' of the Clarks, though White Light is generally more highly regarded - I got my current copy of RM - the Edsel one though - in Oxfam, as it happens, for €4....I bought White Light a few years ago at a record fair for €12 if that's any help.

Whats the s/t Gene Clark- the one on cbs with the Gosdin brothers?

If these are clean uk OG's, I'd go 15-20 on white light and that, 10-15 on Roadmaster, and a fiver on Two sides

Those are the lower end of what you'd get them for on the bay if you were patient- though they can go a little higher- particularly the cbs one.

Musically they are all essential, with two sides to every story apparently being slightly less so, but it's the only one I haven't got, so I wouldn't bet my life on that.

*edit* oh- and if it was one Gene- white light or the cbs one assuming that's what it is...probably the first one being a uk og would swing it for me- but with price related provisos!

Dunno, maybe £15-25 a piece tops if you don't own any of the Gene Clark titles - but for me, the music really is priceless on those..if memory serves ' Roadmaster' was initially released only in Holland so that would be the og then..

Well it has a couple of tunes which I'd regard as essential..

That's the one...... thanks for the thoughts folks. I'll have a ponder, have a look at condition and probably go for Winter in America and White Light or the first Gene Clark LP.

I have the Bridges album with Brian Jackson which I don't recall being that exciting a record, so I would go with the earlier advice and buy the other one
...if in doubt consult your dealer.

    £2.99
Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding

I very much doubt it - will report back....

Spent an hour in a record shop today that I hadn't been to before - and bought some go-go, don lusher and topic folk - some seamless mixing ahead....

Both are great. Bridges has the lovely We almost lost Detroit. That's a beauty.
The Strata East one is top notch too.

What do they want for them?

'winter in america' is a classic

bridges has 4 great songs that i absolutely love 'blow wind blow', 'racetrack in france', 'we almost lost detroit', 'hello sunday hello road'. i think it's one of gil's most underrated albums.

would probably pay up to £ 20 for either one maybe 25 for 'winter in america'

don't know anything about the gene clarks.

Winter in america is probably my favourite GSH, not a bad track on it in my opinion (and there's not many GSH you can say that off). I think i paid $15 for mine about 4 years back in the states. It does come up pretty regularly though on ebay and i've seen people pay above the odds just cause it has the bottle on it.

Bridges is alright, some nice moments but not of the same quality as Winter in my opinion.
