    Default help...vinyl rip

Yes I'm sorry for not being too well versd in terms of this.
But I do have a problem ripping a few songs or even the whole album in MP3 format.

    The set up:
A meager Numark Portable USB ( PT01) turntable plugged in my laptop= Sounds really awful

Is there a way to work around it or do i need to change the turntable and do something drastic with my soundcard.

    Really clueless with this one.

Mind if you guys share how you convert songs from vinyl to MP3.
I have a few mixtapes up in my mind that i want to do.

    Thanks

I would download Audacity, then have a look at the Audacity wikipedia for full user information. Very easy to use.

I use Audacity, piece of cake. I also rip, occasionally, from the same portable. But I don't use USB, I simply run it to a mixer (though any basic amp would do) and then run the Tape out into the mic input on the back of the computer. You can get a lead that is phono on one end and a jack on the other. This might avoid some of the hum that can plague USB connections. Should work fine on a laptop.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.

Since I don't own a mixer I'm using an external sound card/USB audio interface (M-Audio) between my amp & laptop (I prefer Goldwave) - no hum or other problems..

Maybe keep your laptop plugged out when recording - work off battery. That's what I have to do - otherwise it's hum central.
