    Default Velvet Underground.

I have acquired a copy of "The Velvet Underground And Nico" and I just wondered if anyone has any info for me, I'm not an expert on this sort of stuff.

I have a UK MGM copy, but it still has a peel-able banana attached, does anybody know if this is an original pressing, because I thought the UK ones did not come with a peel-able banana on the cover? I just wanted to know for trade reasons as I do not collect this kind of stuff.

    Cheers for any info.

    Discogs offers some help:

MGM 1971 first UK issue... "Some copies came in imported original US cover with peelable banana." They have sales info there too.

That is one I would definitely keep. I like to blast out Run Run Run on occasion.

Yea I do like a fair chunk of the songs on this record to be honest, but I just wondered if it was of any value to trade? I can always get another (cheapo) copy to play.

The original 1967 UK copy is on Verve, single sleeve, no banana (peelable or other wise). Mono and stereo.

The 1971 reissue is on MGM, some copies came in a stickered US cover, with peelable banana. Just stereo.

There's probably an ashtray collectors' forum out there somewhere having a parallel conversation to this one.
