Normally February is the worst month of the year, always cold, dark and dreary… Christmas and New Year are but a distant memory, and spring is still a long, long way away.
But not this year… There’s actually something to look forward to in Edinburgh this year.
It gives Lee and I great pleasure to inform the Mud Massive that we’ve not one but two very special guests this coming Saturday – all the way from down South, well… Newcastle!
Board members Craig (Mr Sayers) and Davey (D-Cee) have been mainstays of a monthly night in Tanners bar in the Toon for close to seven years now… It’s run as a loose collective of vinyl junkies who meet (usually) every third Saturday of the month to wow each other with selections from their deep record collections. Just like the Mud, there are no genre boundaries - only good tunes.
Both Lee and I have been impressed by our visits south of the border, and not just by the music. These two Geordies are generous with their hospitality, food, friendship and in pointing us towards their own record digging spots, hopefully we’ll be able to rebalance some karma while they’re up!
News on the home front is that even although Lee paid fairly and squarely for a couple of records at the last Edinburgh record fair, he bloody well mugged some dealers for two very sought after pieces of vinyl, and I’ve managed to reel in a couple of long time wants from trades.
Lots to like, hell Love this February, and I’m not talking about Valentines day…
Eclectic Mud – This Saturday (12th Feb) in the very accommodating Nobles bar, 44a Constitution Street, Leith, EH6 6RS http://www.noblesbarleith.co.uk/
The musical formula remains unchanged – top music from any and every genre - as the mood takes us. The only unbroken rule… It must be played from vinyl.
As always Eclectic Mud is FREE, tunes from 9pm until 1am… spread the word.
See you there
Fuz ‘n’ Lee
