Found a few 60s singles in my local charity shop, including a very nice copy of Billy Ward & Dominoes - London EP

Finds from the last few weeks:

A couple of carboots in rural Oxfordshire turned up these. Spriguns really made my day, though it's not the best copy. Weirdly, some tracks play perfectly while others are a bit ropy - not complaining though...

The Sandy Denny is a nice gatefold original; the Seeds & Pebbles were from a guy selling off his collection. he'd stuck a catalogue number on each record...

Next lot were stacked outside a charity shop in north Oxford. The shop manager couldn't be bothered to bring them in & seemed staggered to get nearly a pound a record. I'm pacing myself going through these, but lots of highlights so far - the Horace Andy LP is superb, as are the dub LPs from Roots Radics & Scientist

More from the same haul - the Natural Vibes 12 is fantastic, & the Ariwa is a great blank label Mad Scientist 10". Got about 20 more not pictured here (Dennis Brown, Johnny Osbourne, Frankie Paul etc etc)

Bunch of singles from Spitalfields & the Olympia April fair. The QPR supporters 45 is mad

Nice bunch of jazz LPs from Oxfam - mostly UK pressings of US stuff. Richard Abrams is some fairly out-there skronk; really digging the Cannonball Adderley & Mingus though. The Mahgreb LP is a real deluxe with booklet & funny gold tassel. Interesting selection of Berber & Moroccan folk stuff.

Despite turning the place upside down frustratingly I couldn't find the record for this bit of Afro beat. Still, couldn't leave it behind

@ Headless mermaid - looks like were may have crossed in the same stores...

@ Criag - I was in twice on the last trip - I like the store and the guy has a great sense of humor - he had a couple of "odd" customers when I was in last Friday back-to-back... well worth a visit... close to Tropicalia in Furs and Good Records...

Too bad we didn't meet, Flapp.

Gimme Gimme is only open on weekends. It's in East Village near A1, Good records and Academy. They have a extensive selection in most styles with many boxes on the floor, can be a little overwhelming. When I was there a stand-in was pricing records with the help of the owner over webcam with a parakeet making noise in the background

    But the big questions are:

Did you go on a boatride that bored the hell out of your family but got you all excited?

What did your mum do while you and your brother hung out in smelly vinyl shops?

I agree would have been a pleasure - My Japan trip was cancelled the week before - so it was a last minuite expedition - moved the planned WFMU fair trip forward... fingers crossed Japan is re-scheduled

Hehe... This time we skipped the boatride - even though it was my birthday and it is awesome! And Mummy did her own share of shoe and clothes shopping while the boys were record shopping

Thanks mate, I'll be asking you for some tips at some point, as I'm hoping to go next year for my 40th birthday.
