    Default 60s Italian pop

    I have been listening somewhat obsessively to this track for the last few days:

    Lisa Gastoni - Una Stanza Vuota

    and was wondering if anyone has any recommedations for other similar 60s Italian beat / pop?

    I suspect this may be a job for Little Jimmy Oddman, but all welcome!
    To infinity - and beyond!

    Will be looking forward to answers to this.... I can contribute:

    Ornella Vanoni - Only Two Can Play (IL Mio Posto Qual's)

    As played at Northern Brillo by me. Lovely guitar and dramatic singing, although my copy is all in Italian, not in English. (Also listened to obsessively).

    Every VG+home should have a copy of this:

    Trio Junior "Fruscio De Foglie Verdi"

    ..and mine has! - available on vinyl and CD on the 'Teorema' OST recently (see recent BIN thread on 'Vergogna Schifosi' OST for further details...)

    Don't know about anyone else here, but I've largely been a little disappointed by EM's excursions in non-soundtrack vocal pop (Mina, Maurizio Graf, etc) so anymore stuff like the Lisa Gastoni above (cheers JJ!) to prove me wrong would be welcome! Like the Ornella Vanoni too, Eine.

    I like;

    Brunetta - Baluba Shake

    Mini Coopers - Mi Abituero

    or this more psyched out Italian version of Serge Gainsbourg's 'Harley Davidson';

    Ombretta Colli - La Moto

    (and that's just the girls!)

    Default ?!

    Have you got the Svegliati e Uccide LP, Hugh?

    Definitely a solid OST, though I think that's the main vocal track on it.

    In OST-ish vein, few other poppy Morricone vocal 45s...

    Catherine Spaak - Penso a Te

    Christy - Deep Down

    Really need to get this on Stanza a Vuota 45 - it's one of the few Morricone singles left on my wants-list.

    I have a nice cover of California Dreaming by I Dik Dik and a Beatles cover by Dino which is produced by Morricone .... but would definitely like to devour more.

    Smashing track that one, Hugh. Its a new one on me as well.

    With the emphasis on stuff that's a bit similar (so nicely arranged mid-sixties ballads rather than beat or psych-pop), try these on for size.

    Two girls and two boys:

    Gigliola Cinquetti – Lo Specchio

    Rita Pavone – Fortissimo

    Nico Fidenco – Su Nel Cielo

    Gino Paoli – Il Poeta

    I also picked up this from Slim Jim this weekend and really like it:

    Nico Fidenco - Lord Jim

    I can go one step slushier (say, to Non Ti Mettere Con Bill by Raffaela Carra) or one step beatier (say, to L'Uomo D'Oro by Caterina Caselli) should you wish.
