Seconded! You absolutely must get this one - totally stripped down, with canyons of space for bass and echoes to plummet into. It's the LP that got me into dub and I haven't heard it equalled yet. It's certainly superior to Brand, which has been mentioned above, although that is also very good.
I got most of my rootsy dub stuff in the 90s when Blood And Fire and Pressure Sounds were putting our a lot of quality reissues - anything on those labels is likely to be worth a listen. An Even Harder Shade Of Black by Santic on Pressure Sounds is a good one.
I'll go along with King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown too, and Yabby You/Yabby U in general (Deliver Me From My Enemies is a random good pick).
Don't forget to get stoned. I'm not saying it's necessary, but...
Yes, but I haven't got it in mono
Quite enjoyed a few LPs I picked up by SCIENTIST... love how some of the dub stuff sounds like Joe Meek in a bizarre way - echo'd thumps, bumps and whistles, wonderful!
Not strictly a dub only Lp - but it features a few excellent dub workouts:
Edit - one more while I'm here:
in the light dub - horace andy

I bet I can guess what Big Youth's Mini-Me on that lp cover is called.

Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding
As with all Dub albums, the worse the sleeve, the better the record !![]()
"Cover condition:Is perfect except on back cover theres an area of dirty smudge dont know what it is and covers a bit wrinkled which im sure could be flattened out"

Try These
Augustus Pablo - Africa Must Be Free By 1983
Garvy's Ghost is an amazing album as is the vocal version.
Aswad - A new Chapter of Dub surprised me with some killer tracks on like this

And I just picked this up in the charity shop (on CD)
great album tho!
Two questions:
I love dub but I really love drum dubs like the one I posted up there and the Black Wa Da da version on Garvey's Ghost. Any more heavy drum dubs?
the other question is whether Heavy Duty Dub on the 1st Mudie Dub Conference lp is a cover version? I always think it reminds me of some obvious CTI-type jazz-funk tune.

"Heavy Duty Dub" is a hornless dub of this:

Which in turn is a cover of Grover Washington Jr.'s "Loran's Dance".
So yes, you are right in your assumption.

this might fit the bill - the dub section of the Twinkle Brother "jahoviah" 12" - which is in fact most of the 10 minutes running time.

Maybe it sounds a bit proper and academic but I found listening to both dubs and originals or other versions helped put the sounds in context. So something like the release of combined release of Marcus Garvey/Garveys Ghost.
If you want rougher sounding then Keith Hudson and Tubby get my endorsement.
Enthusiastic vagueness passes for scholarship in the twilight world of the disc-jockey.

Resurecting this thread as I've a couple of questions:-
The UK Island press of Jacob Miller / Augustus Pablo "Baby I Love You So / King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown" - there's a 12" issue of this, are the mixes extended/different from the 7"..?
Lee Perry / Augustus Pablo "Vibrate On" - which label etc was this originally released on back in '79..? There are a number of Black Ark 7"s floating about on the web, but they are all reissues.
Help!![]()
