Great finds Sie mate, I love that 'Wozard of iz' got to be in the mood to listen to it though as it's not easy on the old ears!![]()
"Hangin' out with you two is like partying with Fugazi"
"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)
up your street mate / proggy brass laden grooves....would recommend it![]()

back in the office after stumbling across a nice wee haul, and all in top nick too:
Cozy Cole, It's a Rocking Thing (CBS). I found an old billboard review that says it's both hep and modern.
The Best of the Best of Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger (Polydor - Golden Crown Series)
Rubettes, Wear It's 'At. Couldn't leave a pun like that behind, or Tonight neether.
Ocean Colour Scene, Yesterday Today 12'' (Pftt). Baggy as.
Stone Roses, Fools Gold/ What the World is Waiting For 12'' (Silvertone). As above.
Also saw the English World Cup squad getting welcomed in Aotea Centre...quietly booing.
Yeah I dig that one too, lovely feel to it.
The album also came out under the name Shorty in the US, with a different tracklisting and also alternative versions (I think they are anyway, have never sat down and really studied them).
It's not - the Shorty is totally different and it's 'live' - Ian ?

Yes, ignore my previous post! It only shares 5 tracks with Seventh Son.
I'm not convinced it's live though - I always thought it was a 'live in the studio' job. I'm going to dig out both albums tonight and do a thorough compare/contrast analysis!
I wonder what the thinking was behind the Shorty name...suppose a name like Georgie Fame was a bit passe by then and a group might have more credibility with the underground crowd...
namewise : i read somewhere that it was some contractual thing mate - i could be wrong of course...it has a bit of a club vibe to it...as you say 'live in the studio' - great album whatever the weather![]()

I found Zoot Sims live at Ronnie Scotts on Fontana today, 2nd issue. Absolutely storming jazz from 1961, really good lp IMHO![]()

Yesterday, last day of August, crate digging in Columbus:
Penny Nichol -'Penny's Arcade'
Nektar -'A Tab In The Ocean'
National Health -'D.S. Al Coda'
Mooseheart Faith Stellar Groove Band -'Mooseheart Faith'
Anybody ever get offered a job and find records in the same place? When I was leaving after my job interview last week I noticed about 10 crates with records sitting in a corner in the company's courtyard. I asked the caretaker about the records and he said sure they're for sale, just look through them and pay me 10 DKR each for the ones you want. Then after spending 40 mins. looking through the lot and picking out a few the caretaker had disappeared so instead I asked a woman at the reception who told me in rather strong language no those were definitely not for sale and I couldn't touch them. Then I told her but the caretaker had said so so then she said she'd ask another woman who owned them to call me next week when she returned from her holiday. Then today the woman called me and let me buy the records. Thanks.

So, here I am, out in the back end of beyond, in Jasper, Alberta, with no record shops spotted for the last two weeks -when I noticed that the local 'dollar and up' store had a basement with a guy selling retro & vintage items. Plenty of old clothes and baseball cards, but only one box of records. Weirdly, the box contained uk staples such as Englebert Humperdinck and Roger Whittaker LPs, but I spotted this sealed item amongst the forty or so records
Don Jewitt: Between hello and goodbye
Turns out to be a lost Canadian pop gem. Hope it keeps in one piece during the journey home, or that's three dollars up the chute...
