Hey Boney. Did you get Mr Reject on the bay by any chance? I got excited and put a silly bid in but failed to 'win'.

Fair enough. I imagine this might be another 99 copy job. They played the title track on WMFU ages ago which sounded great.

I didn't bid, I always figured that that one would turn up, thus far it hasn't.
Mr Reject is a different beast, musically and conceptually, I figure much rarer too.

I just googled it and sent Sie the relevant link but he'd already done it anyway.

I'm a bit slow on the uptake - is that Mr Reject LP the work of Reg Webb, Boney? I used to know Reg slightly - he was a regular performer in a pub I used to frequent in Colchester. Slightly spiky fellow, but great voice and phenomenal on the keyboard.

Indeed it is Reg Webb at the helm Gingham, blind fellow acording to the sleeve notes, if that narrow's it down?

October finds have been great. Highlight is a new receiver. Marantz SR9000G -- a beast with a sweet sound.

(Also shown is my old standby -- the 90s solid state Yamaha. Very loud, strong bass and cool look, but not like my new M. Eh, off to the office with ya!)

I went to a yard sale on a weekday early in october and it turned out it was someone I knew. He showed me a couple hundred 45s and brought cold beer while I made a pile.

The most interesting 45 was Dewey Terry's "Do on my feet what I did on the street."
    Also shown:
Ensemble Economique - Psychical. (This is a splinter from the local group the Starving Weirdos. I cheer for these cats. Mostly noise and drone experimental, but this is a concept album that sounds like 70s italian horror soundtracks.)
    Roland Kirk - slightly latin
    Ballin'jack special pride.

    All came from low-cal stores.

(Started this post with the plan to show some finds of the last week, but can't find the camera . . .) I would show photos of some LPs:
    Charlie Earland - black drops
Fine & Funky - what the little dog laughed at (private bay area fun w/ paste on cover. One tracker, but enjoyable for now.)

I was gonna post a comprehensive round-up of what I've found in recent times, but half the photos were on my iPhone, with which I got caught in torrential rain between Ambleside and Grasmere. The iPhone subsequently died (upgrade due in 6wks, so they can shite with their repairs). So, I've only those pics which were already uploaded. Shame cos I hit upon a neat haul of Topic LPs in Oxfam in Boston for a quid each, which were quickly flipped on Grantham market recently. Ditto some vintage Johnny Tillotson and other cheesy rock'n'roll stuff.

So, here's the pics that weren't banjaxed by the cheeky Lake District weather (some of the items have already gone in trades etc).

All questions can be fielded in the usual manner, not that there will be any - it's all pretty perfunctory stuff:

The above features some charity shop classics, which should be reappearing in my next Freebies onslaught, which I hope to list up tomorrow.

The stuff in the above two pics came from a little record fair that takes place at Sutton In Ashfield (where half my family hails from - I actually had a quick look at my Great Grandma Baugh's old house where I used to play, shouldn't have bothered, let the memories stay rose-tinted!). Anyway, all the soul type stuff was in the £1 box, but all have moderate condition issues. Well worth the quids though. The next Sutton fair actually takes place on Saturday. But I will be watching rugby in my lucky 'France' pants and then watching football with my lucky Cantona flag.

Got a bit excited when I saw the Callas box, but it's the wrong label etc. Never mind, got my two quid back on it when I traded it.

Final eBay splurges for a while. Damn good. Both of them.

Cheers to Charlie for a most straightforward and satisfactory trade.

This is what I got for my traded stuff on Grantham market last week. Haven't even had time to un-seal the Fotheringay yet. The Chico Arnez looks like cheap and nasty fromage, but is actually pretty good. Headhunters is a spare.

Got these three today, just dawdling in the chazzas. The Poetry LP might actually be enjoyable as it features La Plath doing her cheery ditty 'Lady Lazarus' and the chucklefest 'Daddy'. But that should be easily outweighed by the selection from Ted Hughes .....pike......dirt..........badger.......cold.... ....owl.......stone..... etc

But anyway, this is all rather pissed on by my stroke of good luck this week. For those that don't know, I recently joined Dave and George's reserve pool of labour. Which is a pisser. However, I resolved to keep on doing some union work and also some voluntary stuff. So I've been helping out at Unison branch office (gratis, if there are any DSS grasses reading), which is closing down and moving to new accommodation. Among many other tasks, I had the lovely job of clearing out the cellar, which was utterly minging. Until I uncovered several large boxes full of records!! So, I take them upstairs, reeking of must and mildew and we do some research as to whose they might be. Turns out that the original owner left them down there as much as ten years back and couldn't be traced, so we had carte blanche to go through them and take what we wanted. I grabbed whatever looked interesting or trades-worthy and left hundreds more (I contacted a local charity to take what was left, which they seemed happy with - I contacted Oxfam to go and remove several boxes of vintage books which were also left).

    So, owing to this:

....my room now smells like, well, a damp cellar. Any tips for removing mildew from sleeves or just airing the buggers so they don't smell so bad would be welcome. The condition issues seem, thankfully, to be restricted to the sleeves, with the vinyl in pretty good nick considering. I think a gentle spot of bathing will sort almost all of them out.

I will list the haul (such as it is) in a separate post. To be continued.....
If you will suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions.

    So, yeah, the cellar-haul.

I think the easiest thing to do is to list the 7"s, then the 12"s and then the LPs.

Loads of these are way outside my comfort zone and were picked up with the intention of trading on or punting as freebies etc. Those that I have a listen to and decide I'm not keen on will probably go to the same charity that I asked to remove the remainder of the vinyl from branch office.

As most of you know, I don't do 7"s, so all these are available for anyone who wants to shout out. In fact, PM/shout for anything at all that I list and I'll let you know if I'm keeping it or if it's up for trade.

Obviously, preference for trades and freebies will be given to those who I've traded with already, as opposed to people who continue to endanger the good vibes of this forum by asking for stuff to be held and then never following up on it, or even worse, then contacting me to apologise for fucking up a trade, asking for something else and then fucking THAT trade up too! Jesus H.

So, here goes with what I found. It will appear totally random as I'm listing stuff as it comes off the pile (and covers me in fucking mould!). Obviously, as I only brought it home last night, I've not had time to check condition, but those I've had time to look at are surprisingly clean:

I had a copy of Mr. Reject lined up last year from the fine lads at VinylShop. Unfortunately, when they looked for it, they couldn't turn it up and had no idea when it had been sold.
