    Default November Finds

Just returned from my annual Euro dig with Grope.

Visited Wiesbaden, Mainz, Saarbrucken, Metz, Nancy, Dillingen, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Pforzheim, Stuttgart and Brussels. (if you want any info on these cities check out Grope's entries on Soulstrut's city guides.)

So onto the finds, LP's first:

    45's

Nice stuff as always! Who's in the picture with Donvan and Grass Roots - I don't recognise either of those LPs.

It's what I'd imagine some folks would call acid folk, but I'll probably be well off the mark as I know nothing about that type of stuff!

IImod1, what's that Bejart soundtrack like?

I saw a copy a few days back, but didn't have time to investigate further. Would a return trip be recommended?

ha...great stuff, those crazy Frenchies. Umm, they are French?

Anyway, I hope it's still there. I've got a wee bit of time after work, so I'll give it a crack. Only $3 as I recall.

    cheers for that.

Keith was keyboardist with the Grateful Dead in the 70s and Donna sang with them for a while, hence the connection. I believe I'm right in saying that her voice was an acquired taste for the Deadhead legions

Bargain ... I don't think you'll regret taking a punt on that LP.

and...damn, it was gone. kinda predicted that result in my waters.

at least I managed to drag the Carpenters Ticket to Ride and Jerry Murad's Harmonicats doing the theme from the Avengers from the same bin, so, while a loss, not a total loss.

    right, the music awards await.

    and free booze.

Messe Pour le Temps is amazing! I remember first hearing it on a Gilles P show when he had one of the members of the United Future Organisation doing a set.

When it was first discovered it used to be a relatively expensive record but in fact it is not rare at all.

My copy is a spare if you have any trades

Yeah - I remember going over to Paris for a weekend about 10 years ago and grabbed the first copy I saw for €10...and then saw copies everywhere all weekend ranging from €0.50 to €50.00! It's definately a common record in central Europe.

Half a great LP though - I'm not a big fan of the concrete side. There's an ep which has the 4 best tracks but it does omit the crazy drum and moog intro track so you still need the LP but it's not as easy to turn up, there's also a 45 with two of the tracks for added loudness and there's a proper raer ep with 2 tracks off the LP and 2 off the Maledictus Sound LP - only ever seen this on walls at Utrecht and €€€ lists though..

Whoa! What have I done? You might want to do some youtube research before you delve into the Dead, though if there's a copy of American Beauty I think you'll enjoy that.
