Oh man! Wish I'd known. it was from the cheap € boxes that a French dealer had and there would almost certainly have been other copies in there - there was quantity of most of his cheapies

Some great singles there John mate, I would have commented on your LP's but I'm not up on them!

Is the other copy of your Kim Fowley knackered, or is it just you being fussy?

If there's crackle needn't bother mate, I thought it might have just have been you being fussy about the cover!

    Thumbs up Finally the LP's....

    Jeff Monn - Reality (Vanguard)
Been on my radar for a while, since Nige copped a copy a while ago, thanks for sorting me out John mate. Former 'Third bardo' dude goes solo, even does a 'Third bardo' cover 'I can understand your problem'.

Pink Floyd - Piper at the gates of dawn (EMI)
Needs no introduction, should be in everybody's collection in one form or another! Very happy to get silver and black UK press for a very reasonable price.

    Danyel Gerard - Atmosphere (CBS)
Now I can get rid of my MFP budget press. (Thanks Nige mate)

Bob Siller - This is Siller's picture (Dunhill)
I remember leaving this a UK dealers stall as I'd bought to many records and it was just overload, so I was pleased when Nige pulled me a cheap copy.

The gasoline band - S/T (Cube)
Funky tinged horn rock, not sure why the is currently £200 in RCPG!

Rahul Dev Burman - Hum kisse kum naheem (EMI)
Not really up on Bollywoods, so was dead happy when Lee pointed out one to me that I actually knew and liked.

The Novi singer - Pay tribute (Muza)
Very happy to get a mint copy of this by one of my favourite Polish bands.

    Franco Micalizzi - Violence!
Very happy to knock off one of my Italian OST grail for a great price.

Georges Gravarentz - Un beau monstre (Pathe)
Finally nailed one at Utrecht for the right price, seen them previously but it's always been to dear! Great French OST, 'Haschish party' is the track but you already knew that!

    Francois Cousineau - L'initiation
Groovy French Canadian soundtrack, annoyingly mine has a mark that sounds one of the good track, wish I'd spotted that at the poorly lit fair!

You are what you eat - OST (CBS)
Couple of great tracks on here, plus plenty of great spoken word stuff for your mix CD.

Ken Woodman orchestra - Brass a go go (POP)
New one on me, thanks for the tip Lee mate. 'Mexican flier' is great in a vulture classic sort of way.

Armin Rusch Spielt - Beat fur verliebte (REX)
YES! Well happy to pull this on, 'Moon morning' is the sh*t!!!!

Mourning glory -Two suns worth (Fontana)
Finally....Right up my US cheapy psych street, thanks Nige mate.

    Wiatraki - S/T (Muza)
A great Polish tip from Lee, solid LP.

    Hardwater - S/T (Capitol)
    Great Axelrod produced psych LP.

    Zager & Evans - S/T (RCA)
Finally, I missed a couple of copies of this cheapy.

    Harpers Bizarre - 4 (Warners)
Well known road these parts, unfortunately it wasn't till I got it home that I notice the annoying marks!

The ferris wheel - Can't break the habit (Hit-ton)
    DRUMS!

Bob Seger - Smokin' O.P.'S (Capitol)
Still need to give it a spin but I'm sure I'll dig it.

Franncesco de Masi - The big game (Beat)
    Great funky Italian soundtrack.

The head shop - S/T (RCA)
Already one of favourite US psych LP's.

    Marsha Hunt - Attention! (Fontana)
Need to give it a proper listen but 'Southern man' sounded great.

    Inner dialogue - S/T (Ranwood)
Another one that had been on my radar for a while. Solid listen in 'Free design/ Heaven & earth' type way.

    Turn on
Great library kindly recommended to me by Lee, thanks mate.

Chappell - Dance and mood music vol 3
Solid release from this great series.

Chappell - Dance and mood music vol 19
    See above!

Tilsley orchestra - Heavy gravy (De Wolfe)
    Couple of great tracks.

    Cobra (Rouge)
    One side pretty decent.

Lejuan love - I still feel good (Luke Skyywalker)
Great Miami bass LP, can't believe Ive never owned this until now!

Lord Finnesse - Return of the funky man (Giant)
Well happy to get this classic 12" cheap, great non LP B side...Cheers Nige mate.

C'mon dude. If you're giving me internet propz for pulling dollar bin US pop LP's I definitely want a shout out when I buy a UK rare for you for 20 Euro

I guess this should have been the LP I mentioned when non record friends asked me did I find any expensive LP's for cheap. Nice that my one 'bargain' find (although like you I think that RRPG price is way off the mark) was something I already own

Great LP's btw mate and next time I'm strictly passing any good doubles straight to Lee

PS Thanks for that birthday 45 as well Craig...great track.

Yep, spot on mate. Quite a heavy one eh? Again, I'm pretty sure you've played me it previously. My euro single collection has just increased dramatically

    Well, better late than never…

I decided not to freakout this time and try and just enjoy three days of looking at millions (?) of records without trying to listen to everything I hadn’t heard before. Or deciding that I should broaden my game and become an expert on DIY minimal synth gear in the space of a weekend. Needless to say, it didn’t happen…

So you travel hundreds of miles to look at exotic and rare records from all over the world and decide… it’s really time to get your UK Two-Tone collection locked down – doh!
So a selection of Specials, Bodysnatchers, Rico, Swinging Cats, Selecter etc. etc.
The Cats "William Tell" (BASF) bought cheap purely for the company sleeve, but pretty good if you’re looking for a rock-steady version of “William Tell” and the flip's pretty nice.
Shoes For Industry "Falling In Love Again" (Fried Egg) Bristol private press new wave 1979? A cheap punt... might have been a huge sought after rarity. It isn't...

The Euro cheapie 45s! What the VG+ers love about Utrecht, having a right good dig and pulling out un-discovered modpsychdancers. Only to find that, in fact, everybody found a copy four years ago and then it was only a 1 Euro cheapie instead of a 3 Euro cheapie!

Q65 “It Came To Me” (Decca) Dutch freakbeat and panic bought before I even got into the main hall!
Catharsis “32 Mars” (Saravah) Proggy keyboard proto-Neu! kinda vibe.
Catharsis “Les Chevrons” (Saravah) moody keyboard prog

Lover’s Love “Youth Has Gone” (Vogue) fuzz!
The Zombies “Time Of The Season” (CBS) Pretty rare on original UK release – this is a South African press…
Conexion “I Will Pray” b/w “Strong Love” (Pipe) Spanish band, Belgian release? Both sides strong brassy mod stompers, got the thumbs up in the hotel. “I Will Pray” even has a drum break for crying out loud. Seemingly obscure and surely destined for inclusion on Le Beat Bespoke Vol. 27…

Reg King & BB Blunder “Little Boy” (UA) Him out The Action innit? And 2.5 Euro, so worth a punt.
The Searchers “Desdemona” (RCA) Now, everyone knows The Searchers later 45s are worth checking – but seriously, who was buying Searchers 45s in 1971???!!! Not the John’s Children track, but a super-catchy pop number with skippy hip-hoppy drums which is about to go large. Jens told me, and he knows about this kinda thing!
France Gall “Haifisch Baby” b/w “Hippie Hippie” (Decca) Now, I’ve got a confession to make. Jamo asked me to look out for this cheap. You’re tripping over France Gall 45s left right and centre, but this seemed to be pretty elusive. Because… it’s German. Found one and, err, really liked it. It’s a version of “Bebe Requin” which IS cheap as chips... and had I known then, I could have picked up spares!

Tommy McCook & the Supersonics “Crying Everynight” (Spinning Wheel) Phwoar! Do UK labels look much cooler than that? So why did some numpty have push the middle out and write on it?! Brilliant soulful vocal cut to “Tom Drunk”… Last tune of the night on Saturday at Divine, had one of the regulars particularly green with envy.
British Paper & Board Makers Assocation Record (UK Island) Well, for the UK Island collector who has to catch ‘em all (Stapleton?????!!!!) here’s a Paper Manufacturers promo record featuring some tasty acid folk raer from Robin Hall & Jimmy McGregor backed with some spoken word career opportunities… DOPE SAMPLES! Err, only some of that is strictly true...
Tubby Hayes Quintet “Sally” b/w “I Believe In You” (Fontana) This is what I find amazing about Utrecht – this and Fotheringay were 1.50 Euro on the Sunday afternoon – madness!

Ike & Tina Turner “Somebody Needs You” (WB) Now usually I prefer to pick up UK issues (“so why the f*** did you bother going to Utrecht then, you contrary git” I hear you ask…) but I’m happy with this tasty Dutch picture sleeve copy of their storming Darrell Banks cover…
5 Miles Out “Super Sweet Girl Of Mine” b/w “Set Your Mind Free” (UK Action) Great funky soul double sider (not sure if the flip ever came out on US, all copies I’ve seen have been 2-sided demos). After handing over 5 Euro the (well known greedy British) dealer asked “so how much is that really worth?”. His colleague told him 80 quid – ha! In your face!
Fotheringay “Peace In The End” (Island)

Alexander “Working My Way” (EMI) French club banger which everyone on the planet owned but me. Nice to pick up a minter for way under the going rate… cheers for finding this Lee!
Driftin’ Five “Hard Headed Baby” (RCA Victor) Quickly snapped up after arriving on Friday morning – great mod stomper, and the band were apparently from Utrecht – so there you go trivia fans. Another fact for the Utrecht tourist board delegates (Craig, Lee, Nige)...
Zapata’s Revolution “Nasty Sex” b/w “Shit City” (Polydor) Euro 45 of Mexican psych band’s best groovers. Had the album by La Revolucion de Emiliano Zapata, cool to get the single.

Young Flowers “Like Birds” (Sonet) Danish heavyweight psych from 1967, sounding like a long lost Rubble gem!
The Dirty Filthy Mud “Forest Of Black” (Worex) Before any jaws fall out of sockets, this wasn’t a find as such, merely a pre-arranged rendezvous with a very handsome young Swedish gentleman who kindly agreed to make my year and supply the aforementioned 45. Just in case he’s reading this, I’d better not say anything about this being one of the best garage 45s of all time. Whoops – I just went and said it....
Susan Maughan “That Other Place” (Philips) Another bargain, UK flip-side female cover of Wade Flemons northern soul gem which I prefer to the OG!

The Smoke “My Friend Jack” (UA) Picked up cheap for anyone who didn’t already own it – and just as it was about to change hands, the oracle (aka LDJB) spoketh and sprinkled us with the knowledge that this was, in fact, a later glammed up version. Partial to a bit of the old junkshop glam the offer was quickly withdrawn (sorry Paul – you’re better off with the 60s original!)
Le Macchie Rosse “Luca” (CGO) A fuzz fuelled Italian garage gem – a very kind gift from those lovely Pastafrolla people. A pleasure to meet you Juliana!
The Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever” (Parlophone) Now, you’d be forgiven for thinking the world and their dog had heard The Beatles were, you know, quite collectable. Well, not in Utrecht it seems. Is the picture sleeve copy of this not worth more than 2 Euro?

Armando Sciascia “The Liars” b/w “World Tomorrow” (Ember) After drooling at the Italian soundtrack stall, I thought – Italian soundtracks? I can do that for a mere Euro. Hmmm…. maybe not.
Iggy Pop “Lust For Life” & “I’m Bored” – and back to earth with a bump. I like 45s and I like Iggy Pop. And I like cheap records.

    ALBUMS!

So everyone’s showing off their Italian library stuff, rare Cavendishes, Chappells, KPMs, De Wolfes. Aye, very good. But have you got a KPM with a frickin’ HOLOGRAM on the front for 2 Euro???!!! Aye, thought not!!!!
Dave Vorhaus isn’t exactly on top form – might just cut out the hologram and make it into a badge.
The ONLY record I didn’t manage to haggle on, although believe me I tried – the new Fading Yellow comp. It’s limited, it’s on yellow vinyl, it’s… very nice indeed.
Some experimental avant garde Japanese thing which I can’t even work out who it’s by.

Some Sonoton thing which might be a lost cold wave minimal synth wave goth wave (if you keep throwing the word wave around enough, something will stick!).
Fairfield Parlour "From Home (Vertigo) Happy to find a battered South African album – it had a nice UK cover, so that will go nicely with my sleeveless UK copy!
Michael Rother album mints up my dodgy one

And there endeth the finds. Since my return from Utrecht, I haven’t managed to snap out of the “gotta keep digging” mentality and have bought records each and every day since. Mind you, today it was a “Teach Your Budgie To Talk” flexidisc so maybe it’s time to get more discerning…

@Andy - The Dirty Filthy Mud “Forest Of Black” (Worex) - That is surely the record of a life time... if the aforemention gent has another going - highly unlikely - - I'd be up for a dibs...

    Top set of two tones...

“Teach Your Budgie To Talk” - there was of those on yesterday Freakzone

That's got to be a mistake... it's been a £15 album for years.

I'll still go and check to make sure I didn't give my copy away (I've a feeling I did!)
