    Default Record Gratis Reviews

so, as originally intended by boney, heres the place to write about you're received records.

first record that arrived is a wellknown thing on vg+.
i remember dissing it a couple of years ago on this very forum.
allready into more folky sounds it still seemed very banal back then.

just remembered it a couple of months ago and downloaded some mp3s of it and was amazed how beautiful it was. kind of a more mellow richie havens.
so, i got quite excited when a couple of weeks later, lovely bestfriendchicken offered a copy on here.

it has hardly left my turntable since, and i fully apologize to mr. moore for not seeing the beauty of his music years ago. and thank bestdressedchicken for his lovely gesture.

listen to this and tell me it wont hit you

    next up...alanmck's zeitlin frenzy!

i already repped my first grip in the record gratis thread but i like the idea of a review thread that way the reviews get more attention i think.

thank you to a kind mr. smashingcheesegromit for sending me this goodie .

a lovely little early reggae double-sider on techniques uk produced by the late great mr. winston riley. love the organ and the whacky vocals... am now trying to figure out where i heard that horn riff on the flip side before. i'm pretty sure it's james brown or jb's but which tune...? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu_3fAQOx2g

thanks to the kind Sie-Fly for sending over the Thomas Crown Affair soundtrack.

it's a nice addition to my growing collection of film sound tracks. 'cash and carry' and 'the boston wrangler' had to be instantly replayed a couple of times - great mod/jerk pieces. i also like the calmer and jazzier parts of the album.

this now makes me wonder what's the movie like?

Very very big thanks to Priima for the Apelsin album.

Igatsus being my favourite track but my no means the only attraction on this album. At least 4 other tracks I like and having played the whole album end to end whilst having dinner tonight I did't feel the need to get up and skip any tracks even if they were not exactly my cup o tea.

A real nice odd ball album.

i got this from DJVW ages ago, but have only now had the chance to say thank you in public. the gnomic chap does nice versions of Weldon Irvine's "Liberated Brother" and Hubbard's "Little Sunflower"". TVM, DJVW, it's lovely.

However, DJVW packed it with two other records, one of which is Leo Cuypers' "Zeeland Suite". that is a properly fantastic, locally pressed Dutch jazz thing that looks like this...

Fickle Formula, kids. Don't miss it
