Good to see that Queensday (still) delivers. The weather was also nice as far as I heard.

Was given some remaining leftovers from that dj collection-dumpster-dig I mentioned recently. The Lotti Golden is nice different RNB/soul. NWA is warped but a decent replacement for my trashed copy. Chuck Brown and Planet Patrol are nice to have for the aging b-boy.

Met VG+'s own Brainbomb for a day of Copenhagen recordshop hopping and picked up a few things. Left Hand Corner played the Tony Bennett at a Crillo, it reminds me of Mark Murphy and Oscar Brown. Lenny McBrowne is pretty straight ahead bop but they do Invitation and Dearly Beloved nicely. Green & Yellow (above Bennett) is latin with compliments of Varig Airlines, features Pocho Perez and Jorge Ben a.o. and has narration. Lello has an awful singing voice but does one song with nice funky backing.

And here's what I picked up:

Riccardo - Last Tango in Paris
Nice title track with a bit of a headnodding groove - rest is a bit too romantic it seems.

    Povl Kjoller - Musiklabyrinten
1975 Danish kiddie record with some jazzy and groovy bits. Plus some occassional moogy sounds.

    Hozan Yamamoto - Silver World
Bamboo flute meets jazz. Very nice.

    Button Down Brass - Firedog!
    Well known cop show funk.

Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
    Probably well known funky jazz.

    Jeremy Steig - Wayfaring Stranger
    Flute jazz with great sleeve.

    Egberto Gismonti - S/T
Sounded a bit like avantgarde bossa nova or somethin when I needledropped it in shop but don't take my word for it, as soon as I had decided it was worth giving a chance I stopped listening to avoid ruining any surprises on the first proper listen.

    John Murtaugh - Blues Current
Moogy groove of some sort... I've only heard that track that appears on comps so maybe that's the only good thing on it.

    Paul Bley & Scorpio - S/T
You can't go wrong with 1972 jazz with lots of Fender Rhodes plus bits of ARP and fuzz bass (I hope, as I haven't listened properly yet)
    Liberia's only (einzige) disco-jazz-rock band

Great LP mate, there's another couple of killers on there too, can't go wrong with Purdie on drums.

    Nice finds BTW...

My genre classification wasn't too far from the truth:

Very cool record - anyone know if he made more stuff worth checking out?

Out of curiosity, did you find most of these early on, or throughout the day?
it's OK to head out for wonderful, but on your way to wonderful, you're gonna have to pass through all right. When you get to all right,
take a good look around and get used to it, because that may be as far as you're gonna go.

The weather was very good, almost to hot.

And yes it delivered way better then other years too. Because of the rainy weekend before Queensday people had the opportunity of two days for searching articles to sell. I found 20 records in 2011, year before that in 2010 was 50 records and in 2009 90 records. So with 120+ records I did very well. Even the quality is very good, mostly EX copies and records in genres I like.

A nice batch of 10" RCA custom acetates cut for the Grapevine label (Late 70's Northern exponents)
How these things end up in a charity shop in Devon puzzles me (not complaining though)

GRP 113 CAPREEZ:“How To Make A Sad Man Glad”
    GRP 1 1 9 EDDIE PARKER:“Love You Baby”
GRP 124 BOBBY WELLS: “Be’s That Way Sometimes”
GRP 125 BETTY BOO: “Say It Isn’t So”
GRP 126 THE THRILLS:“Show The Whole World Where It’s At”
GRP 128 MORRIS CHESTNUT: “Too Darn Soulful”
GRP 132 SAM AND KITTY:‘I’ve Got Something Good”
    GRP 133 CAROL ANDERSON:“Sad Girl”
GRP 136 AL WILLIAMS: “I Am Nothing”
GRP 138 LESTER TIPTON: “This Won’t Change”
GRP 145 DUKE BROWNER:“Crying Over You”
GRP 146 KADDO STRINGS: “Nothing But Love”
GRP 147 ANTHONY RAYE: “Give Me One More Chance”

    Japanese originals
    • Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro (New Funk)
    • Tokyo Killer (New Surf/Eleki)
    • Shintaro Sakamoto (Former Yura Yura Teikoku)
    • Minako Yoshida (Pop - heavy disapointment... thought this was a different track)

    Japanese press of US funk/Soul

The LESTER TIPTON is great, I'm not sure what to do with some of the others - I'll probably live with them for a bit. I'm uncertain if Acetates of 70's represses carry much of a premium with northern collectors?

Northern collectors seem to hold Grapevine in a reverential awe, some even argue that they constitute uk first pressings. So i'd imagine acetates would be of great interest...

Well Grapevine was legit so they are official UK releases.
I'm sure they will find a home and great find for a charity shop.

I would say they are very collectable, especially the Al Williams and Lester, as originals go for 1000,s even the normal Grapevine issues go for Money, you would get good money via e-bay or John Manship who seems to get double what most other people get, a great haul you got there , i'm very envious, well done
