Plus 'Granfalloon' is a Kurt Vonnegut reference

i'm really obsessed with this not not fun album KWJAZ - KWJAZ (2011)

First transmission from the post-plastic sublime of KWJAZ. Mixtape-suite that passes the more esoteric sides of Madlib's YNQ projects (Monk Hughes, Young Jazz Rebels) through the circuitry of John Hassell's 4th world electro-cartography abstractions . A degraded, dubwise touch erodes the stream of cybernetic devotionals to reveal dark tape matter-- errant black holes of rhythm and space dart around the periphery, gone before you hear them. Decomposed luxury grooves for an era of imperfect memory.

    Ashley Slater - Private Sunshine
Rediscovered this earlier in the week and I've been playing it over and over again on the way into and back from work
    Lovely lovely stuff

Today's obsession (well, a growing one over a while now) is the World Unknown label. REALLY want to make one of their parties soon, but fear I might break myself.

    Sounds like this and this

There is SOOOO much good new stuff about at the moment that I just can't afford... this sounds really interesting (cheers for posting, this had passed me by), plus there's the Actress LP, The Pye Corner Audio, The Hype Williams LP I missed out on…

I used to work with one of the dudes who set it up - back then he was a fountain of knowledge on Belgian New beat (?) and Italo disco before there were posters everywhere of nights playing the stuff. Nice bloke too. they seem to be going from strength to strength... i did a bunch of posters for their nights, but before it got popular - which i fear speaks volumes about my poster design

I've just discovered Jim Boggia's album "Misadventures In Stereo" and I've been playing the bejaysus out of it. I especially liKe "Listening to NRBQ". Some nice powerpop in there.

The rest of the album is a bit too jazz-wazz for me, but the introduction of a drum machine on this one has had me totally hooked all week

Didn't know this guy existed - old-school boogie, funk and prince-like falsetto - genius

Chassol is the name of the musician, his purpose is quite simple, he calls it harmonizing or ultrascoring. Basically he overdubs his own compositions on edited videos. But it is much more than putting music on moving images. music and image are really merged into the same piece.
the Obama below is just for the example, not his best one but gives a clear snapshot of his work

you now can skip it and jump straight to the ones i'm obsessed with,

two stunning pieces of work, full of weirdness and beauty, totally unexpected
There is no way you can't love it.

After a couple of weeks marveling at the Pepe Deluxe, managed to escape into the arms of Ethel Ennis.

She was opposite a vacant slot that had been occupied by Betty Carter the week before.
