There's a name written on the label of this, and on the cover of the Louis Stewart record, that corresponds to the name of a guy who ran a studio in the same part of the world in the '70s/'80s and who was - IIRC - also a fixture on the local jazz scene such as it was.

Now I'm wondering if what I got was the dregs of a much larger collection

There's no pleasing some people Anyway, how does it play?
Attention!!! I know this is a very expensive Price for the record. This i one of my most beloved Records, so my primary intention isn't the selling. I like it in my collection. I only will sell it, if someone wants it that much, that he is willing to pay that much money. Therefore the unrealistic price. Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to cheat ,I don't force someone into buying it, I don't want to drive up the price. Thanks for understanding

Bit of an edge warp - which seems to be common among the ones on Popsike - and a little noise at the start of side two; otherwise fine. I *think* it sounds better than the re-issue, but i would think that wouldn't I?

I have a proper one sided VINYL version of this flexi - found it a few years back in a charity shop. There's also an instrumental version on an LP by the Dance Band of the Black Watch - pretty groovy and it has a break!

2 personal grails crossed of the want list with the Open Sky Unit and the Freddy Cole LPs. The Arne Domnérus is a beautiful Mono pressing, with great music.

What year is that Arne from? Style?

See it's got Georg Riedel and Bengt-Arne Wallin on it along with some other famous jazz names of the 60s-70s.

Went to a city with a hifi store that also sells records. Nothing too exciting but I haven't been there for years. When I entered the owner and his mate just sat in two armchairs with closed eyes listening to a record (or rather the sound, more than the music if I interpret their conversation afterwards) played on one of those hightech really expensive decks, with weird suspension and shit and expensive speakers and the whole gear...

I browsed a bit and asked if I could listen to a few records - the two in the picture sounded AMAZING and the thing is... when I came home to my really old crappy equipment and put them on... well... they still sounded totally amazing...

I am not convinced by this hifi freakery - it's not worth it at all to spend thousands of £ if the improvement is so insignificant... rather spend my money on music than sound...

Is there a new record boutique in Brussels then? The OSU came in a trade in a store in Brussels indeed. The Freddy Cole and Arne Domnérus came from a store in Ghent.

@Brainbomb: The Arne Domnérus is from 1960. It's a solid modern jazz/hard bop album. It's got a very nice version of Art Farmer's Mox Nix for instance.

Went to two places today - both are like hobby shops run by collectors and only open 2 days a month - the same days as well, in different towns, but it is quite possible to cram in both in a day if you get up early. The first is new so a chance to check it out now that I'm on vacation and have time to sit 1,5 hours on buses to get to a godforsaken smalltown. The first three below are from that place. The rest from a larger city yet another 40 minutes on a bus away. The find included quite a few "I been meaning to" and genrewise all over the place:

    Soft Machine - 4
I been meaning to upgrade my copy of this for some time and now have. Great jazzrock/artrock.

    Galaxie 500 - Blue Thunder 12"EP
Mellow American late 80s/early 90s alternative - they're not quite unlike what I imagine VU might have sounded like if they had been using shitloads of pot instead of heroin.

    Slim Borgudd - Funky Formula
I been meaning to check out this Swedish funk(?) for some years now...

Boudewijn de Groot - Grootste Hits
I been meaning to check out this guy for a while so a cheap comp is a good start.

    Martin Denny - Exotica Today
    Cheap exotica.

Incredible Bongo Band - Bongo Rock
I been meaning to get rid of my reissue for a while, because this is not so hard to find so it's quite silly to have a 90s pressing. So now that's taken care of.

    Captain Beefheart - Mirror Man
I been meaning to get more Beefheart. I have embarassingly few - though it just got a little better in that department. Only four songs on this one, between 8 and 19 minutes. Quite curious to hear what he makes of that.

    Ramsey Lewis - Sun Godess
Cheap 1974 jazz - bought because I believe I've seen it has quite a few fans here.

Alice Babs - Music with a Jazz Flavor
Wow - cheap upgrade Swedish dancefloor jazz classic.

    Samhain - Initium
I been meaning to buy this since I was a teenager but over the years too many other records have come in the way. Actually haven't heard Samhain for at least 15 years so maybe I won't like it butu as I remember it they sounded like a perfect blend of Misfits and Danzig which wouldn't be very surprising as it chronologically falls in between those two bands when you look at Glenn Danzigs career.

Killing Joke - what's THIS for...!
I been meaning to buy this since I was a teenager etc. Haven't heard for a long time either but I remember the synths in Butcher beeing disgustingly menacing.

    CamoWHAT????
Soviet pop? Need help from Priima or Gogo here - what have I bought?

    Appendix:
The Russian thing is quite cool, some folkfunky songs and occassional fuzz.
Found this live clip of one of my instant faves with a nice headnodding groove:

But this is the best track - Soviet schlager funk:

    Also pretty nice track:

    Better pic nicked:

How should I file it in roman letters though? Thankful if anyone can leave a more or less accepted artist name+record title in roman letters...

    Nice BB!
25 Swedish kronor for Alice Babs?!

Sun Goddess always reminds me of seeing overweight NYC record dealer King George playing that LOUD in his shop while talking to a nice couple on a hot summer day with his shirt off.

Samocvety should be right. I think it doesn't have title, text on bottom of sleeve says 'vocal-instrumental ensemble'
    Cool you like it.
Still you need first press with bonus tracks, including flute funker

Ah yes... Samocvety, I've heard of them. It's hard buying Melodyia - not long ago I bought another Pesniary record and didn't realize until I started using internet to figure out what it was...

    Thanks.

Looks like they left out the best track on my press.

Still happy to come home with a nice record,

Yeah - guess it hadn't sold because they'd halved the price according to the pricetag underneath the 25.

it took me time to get the right version. author of that track "Snezhinka" left USSR, so first album was discontinued and taken from sale and released later with new catalog number and without tracks by prohibited author.

A good story - all the better reason to find it. Banned in the USSR - good sales argument I think.
