Default Tramlines festival, Sheffield: Friday 20th July 2012 - Sunday 22nd July 2012

    Tramlines

... in which many of the city's venues are taken over for a free festival. Plenty of mainstream stuffgoing on, but one event in particular being held as part of the festival, caught my eye:

    Signals

"Signals is an all-day showcase of underground electronic music culture, from future bass, and techno through to ambient and sound design, taking place on the Saturday of Tramlines, 21st of July. It will be unfolding within the former industrial setting of Sheffield’s renowned Yellow Arch Studios.

The day will bring together some of the most forward-thinking contemporary electronic musicians and innovators within their fields, including:

    Objekt
    Demdike Stare (live)
    snd
    DMX Krew
    Randomer
    Pye Corner Audio
    Konx-Om-Pax
    Special Guests TBA

    and many more.

Beyond the music, features running throughout the day will include live interactive visuals, speaker events, projection mapping in the evening, as well as live experimental electronic bands and net-label stalls.

Running from 12pm through to 4am this hopes to be the finest cocktail of burgeoning electronica Tramlines has ever seen".

YES! I will be there until I... GET TIRED at about 2am and then start panicking about being up too late and leave at about 2.30am. But no, looks ver acer.

There should also be the unveiling, on the Sunday, of a record that you had more than a hand in producing, Jon. (Well, two hands).

A book which I was involved in funding... I was the Theorist in Residence for this project, and actually wrote about that image you can see above on the YouTube vid.

Now a Santander bank, that was the building which housed the Crazy Daisy nightclub, where Phil Oakley asked disco-dancers Jo and Sue to audition for his band, ver Human League.

Read the whole gripping essay here, and pm me if you want to buy a copy of the book (a snip at £5).
