    Default Pitch's Mixed Trades - June 2012

Some trades... never know quite what to put up here - but here goes! Some are just VG+ friendly, others perhaps a little more interesting..... After similar stuff - or check last two mix CDs to give an idea what I'm after.

John Carpenter - Escape from new york OST - annoyingly this has a scratch at opening of side 2 (12 clicks as 'The Duke Arrives' starts), and I've just replaced it - nearly went to freebie's - but as it's otherwise EX (nice and clean through the quiet bits) and the click is bang on the beat (crazy but true!) if someone has something low value to trade..... ON HOLD
Don Sebesky - & The Jazz-rock Syndrome - always pick this up when I see it! Featuring Big Mama Cass, The Word and generally lovely stuff. Australian pressing, visual surface mark to side 2 but doesn't come out on audio - so VG+ I guess.
Georgie Fame - Seventh Son - one of my favourite Fame LPs - great version of title track, and Somebody stole my thunder... It's not tip-top condition if you're after mint - bit crackly in places - VG (1st press laminated cover if that interests you) ON HOLD
Labat - M.Frog - you should know that this is a favourite of mine - weird stuff like this: We Are Crazy and my favourite killer track Champegarpaen With bonkers fold out colour music notion pages to front cover. Visually VG+ - plays EX. ON HOLD

Ali Brothers – Music Of Pakistan – difficult LP to find – Dutch version of 1962 EMI Pakistan album (on discogs) - Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan & Ustad Salamat Ali Khan…. Here’s a live performance of the brothers. EX
Paul Horn (composed by Lalo Schifrin) – Jazz Suite On The Mass Text – another one I always pick up and with fans here – gorgeous stuff! EX
George Benson – Tell It Like It Is – funky stuff – Water Brother - to smooth stuff – title track. This is the Australian CTI reissue from 1976.
Cleo Laine – Portrait – If you ask Alanmck it’s all about Night Owl (if you haven’t chased down a lovely 45 of it) – but a generally strong album with a couple of Dankworth and Michael Gibb original tracks. VG++ ON HOLD

Pickettywitch - S/T - with Days I Remember and Maybe we've been loving too long
Nilsson - The Point! - favourite round these parts (though personally does nothing for me) - with booklet - Me and my arrow
John Barry - OHMSS - nice minty 80s reissue - Do you know how Christmas trees are grown?
Maynard Ferguson - Ballad Style Of..... - UK only release means this is harder to source than others.... recorded in London - produced by Keith Mansfield, orchestra conducted by Alan Morehouse.

The Critics Group - Ye Mariners All (Argo) - classic English folk set of sea shanties and lost at sea tales from Ewan McColl and friends (1971). Pretty difficult to track down.
Jude Still - Heart Food - lovingly reissued on '4 Men With Beards' label - I found an original - gorgeous album. The Pearl
The Three Degrees - International - the Japanese issue with different French and Japanese versions of certain songs. When will I see you again (Japanese version)
Steve Ashley - Stroll On - marvelous UK folk from ex-Albion Country Band singer song writer - love this - Fire and Wine ON HOLD

Donald & The Delighters - Elephant Walk
The Southland Trio - EP - UK folk
Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias - Old trust
Sergio Mendes - The Crab (the relatively difficult single to find - Australian issue)
Rodriguez - Inner City Blues (Light In The Attic) - so so recording - but has a lovely LITA sampler CD and newsletter!
Susan Christie - Paint A Lady - Finders Keepers first 45

    Thumbs up

Some one should grab that Don Sebsky, his take on the 'Word' is great, perfect for playing out!

Is the M Frog LP the same record as the De Wolfe 'Pop Arp' library? I think it is but I can never remember if it's this one or something else.

No - don't think this was ever a library - it's on Bearsville (Todd Rundgren) - by Jean Yves Labat who went on to do a couple of great 'cosmic disco' albums - Underwater Electronic Orchestra and Transitions no.1

Alas yes - there has been an early request for this - but if you've anything else going let me know just in case!
