    Default Record Shop Memories

Was thinking today about some shops that don't exist anymore.

Can anyone remember the names of the following:

The shop beneath Charing Cross on the way down to Embankment. Think it was run by Pete Reilly but I could be making that last bit up.

I've got vague memories of a shop in the Trocadero Centre or at least very close to it on the top floor. Pretty sure I bought a Pharoah Sanders LP there many moons ago.

Small shop somewhere in Coventry Garden. Remember buying Idris Muhammad Could Heaven Ever be lIke this.

    Can anyone else remember these?

Haha, did this once with some friends in the Netherlands for the Hague. Went out of control by looking at all the stickers on the back of our recordcollection.

    Jam records?
it's OK to head out for wonderful, but on your way to wonderful, you're gonna have to pass through all right. When you get to all right,
take a good look around and get used to it, because that may be as far as you're gonna go.

yes, Trocadero = Jam. run by the lovely Ollie, who DJ a fair bit with Dammers in the early-mid 90s. ISTR they were also responsible for that v early 90s bootleg with the grey/black sleeve that had "hot pants breakdown" and Rance Allen and other glories on it.

the shop under CHX station was un by the man I knew as Speedy Pete, who used to work for Ollie @ Jam... might have been called "rare grooves".

assume you sent this from your phone, Mark, given "Coventry Garden..."

Lovely Ollie had a little shop in Coventry Garden in a basement too, wonder if it's the same one. Used to be a fan of their CHAZZ nights.

One for the Greeks (Athenians) here; early Euro days, small shop on Solonos st. (close to Kanigkos square), stock mostly from Holland and Germany, quite good and varied selection and excellent prices. Most records priced below 10 Euro (when 15 Euro was considered cheap everywhere else).

Once it closed the people who run it vanished from the 'scene' or so I think. Most of the days a lady was behind the counter who I thought didn't know much about records..

Can any Greek here remember the store's name?
Everything in Greece is arpa kolla
