    Default Polylined record sleeves

Giving my record collection a bit of TLC, and am planning on replacing my old torn 7" record sleeves, but wondered if it was worth getting Polylined sleeves, normal paper or maybe something I have not thought of yet?

    What is your experience?

I like card sleeves for 45s, good if you're Djing as they afford more protection. Also when you're flicking through your box you can flip them up at an angle so they stick up - good when you're preparing your next few spins. They're generally just easier to flick through, especially if you have sausage fingers like mine.

There's also a technique for opening the sleeve so the 45 just drops into your hand (bit hard to explain in words) - this saves on paper scuffs.

I thought generally you should use a paper sleeve inside a cardboard sleeve?

In theory you're probably right as card is probably rougher than paper, therefore more likely to scuff the vinyl. But with my patented technique, the 45 doesn't touch the sides of the sleeve when you take it out - so no scuffs.

Good quality white paper sleeves and quality poly covers.

I followed this thread on polylined sleeves and went for Olive Green Archive sleeves from jazzmann in the end as apparently polylined sleeves can cloud your vinyl over time.

Ok so I have "Olive Green Archive sleeves" for my 7" from jazzmanrecords.co.uk
I have stiff card outer sleeves from covers33 which seem to work really well with the "Olive Green Archive sleeves". I have done this to 100 of my records and am very pleased with the results.

I also have 400g poy outers for my picture sleeve 7" from covers33 (PVC is bad apparently, poly is ok)

All I need now for the picture sleeves is something to insert which will stiffen it into a square as the poly outers are very soft. can anyone recommend something?

You could always try the card that comic collectors use.

covers33 often send these bits of card at the ends ofwith the bundles of paper 7" sleeves that would be ideal - might be worth contacting them if you need a large number? easier than trying to cut them out yourself

Ooh a card sleeve fits them perfectly so will go for overkill inner sleeve, card sleeve, poly sleeve and original picture sleeve slotted beside :-) might even put it in the box back 2 front so it has the artist / track name written in the same place as the plain sleeves for easy browsing. Might have to send a proud picture when I have finished sprucing my 7" babies

Raer seven --> thin inner plastic sleeve --> thick outer cardboard sleeve --> Thick(ish) plastic outersleeve (non-sealable).

I cringe when I see you guys put your uber-raers into a rough, naked cardboard sleeve.

Voila you can see the olive inner sleeve, the card outer sleeve, for picture sleeves a poly sleeve with the picture sleeve slotted in the back, different colour writing for different genres (well my own broad genres anyway!)
