45s. Most of these are pretty obvious (maybe pics are a bit small though).
Particularly happy with the Black Sabbath, James Brown - World and Marvin Gaye.

Think it was all instrumental. Maybe this:

Liberia's only (einzige) disco-jazz-rock band
That one has Ramsey's Back
Pop Party is the one you want though

You're all wrong, it's all about Singing Revolution:
Also has the self penned funky rock killer 'Niagara' in a medley between War and Paranoid.

I listened properly to all of Singing Revolution, discovered some cool stuff and was inspired to do a mini-mix of the best stuff so here goes, "Hairy Humphries":

The concept could probably be expanded... a thread for the, let's be honest, pretty dead Vinyl Vulture part of the forum maybe?
Catch up time again
Some great 45s in the door - did OK at a record fair and had some nice stuff from set sales and the bay
Somebody's Children - US garage psych
some pic sleevers
Julie gets a direct youtube link as I love it so much!
I think Wagon is well know around here - funky mod spins
Kathargo is very like Wagon! Can't find a clip though.
Chile noise stuff - good two sider but Rollin & Tumblin edges it for me
I managed to take a pic of the wrong side of this one - the track you want is E Il Mondo Va. Psych mod jazz?
This came as part of a job lot - I don't really like it. Is the legendary LP as dull as this?
US Garage
Clarence Covers Tony Joe - nice!
Willie and Laura Mae Jones
Bobby Byrd for £2 at the fair? Aye - OK then'
Hot Pants
Strangest business model for a record dealer I've encountered - a local dealer let me go through a bunch of 45s he'd just had in and I pulled the one below out and asked how much knowing it was a potentially pricey. He looked at it and said 'thats a £50 single', I said 'yeah - it's a pricey one I think' and he said 'well....I don't like it so you can have it for a fiver'.....I took it
On the Brink
UK press of a classic
Inner City Blues
Fuzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Facts of Life
UK sike - slightly rough but OK - PVA will improve it
Days of Broken Arrows
Strange Peel produced funky version of the wedding disco fave
Not sure how to describe this one? I like it a lot though.
Oh My Eli
Curtis gets a reggae going over
Simply fuckin' awesome!
Louie Louie
US psych
Pop stuff with a lovely fuzz break
Buses
More US psych - a big Sayers spin
Love Trip
Awesomely fuzzed out version of the Who classic -- great take of Tobacco Road on the flip too
Vocals grate a bit on this one, grooves along nicely though
Chee-Chee??
US garage spare - GONE
story of my life
back with LPs later.
"..hole...road...middle thereof"
Great stuff there Lee mate, couple there on my radar....
That 'Prodigal son' looks/sounds great.![]()
"Hangin' out with you two is like partying with Fugazi"
Some bits from this Saturday. I went to Chester Le Street market to surprise Craig and Nigel as I was staying in Durham for the cricket. Unfortunately, the guy that they turn up to buy from - 50's Dave - now only sets up every fortnight and I'd managed to catch him on his weekend off. Bollocks. I now know why we only get a "finds from the market" post from the Newcastle lads every other week..!
So, after sitting in a flooded marketplace at 7:00am and eating a full vegan nut-roast birthday cake washed down with several Crabbies I was about to trudge back to the car when up popped Dave, calling by the market to see if the house clearance lads had anything for him. We had a chat, that's the first time I'd seen him in around 7 years and - taking pity on me I guess - he told me he had a collection he'd bought late last night still in his car and invited me to take a peek...

Inez Foxx "At Memphis" (Volt)
You can feel the warm breath of Isaac Hayes all over this; lovely deep cut "Let Me Down Easy" - love that intro..! Also worth picking up for "You Don’t Want My Love (All You Want Is My Loving)". Sorry, can't find a link...
John Surman "The Trio" (Dawn)
Original UK double album, the sticker on the front says that it came with a poster... Mind you it also said that I should have paid 59 shillings and 11 pence for it. Quite a challenging listen, never going to make anyone's "introduce people like Eric Adams to jazz" album list.
Art Blakey "Soul!" (Fontana)
Bit early for me (1959) but the version of Moanin' on this album is very good. Here's a link, think it's the same version (same players).
Paul Gonsalves & Ray Nance "Just A Sittin' And A Rockin'" (Black Lion)
Recorded in 1970, released in 1974. Reminds me of sitting in a dark smokey jazz bar in Shinjuku with Iain Plainstone at 4:00am buying drinks from a one-armed man wearing shades. Bluesy late night jazz standards from start to finish.
Cleo Laine & Tubby Hayes "Palladium Jazz Date" (Fontana)
Cheap copyso dabbled.

"Sometimes I get a hot ear..."
You were lucky to catch Dave there Sie mate.....He's been doing it every other week for a good few years now, if it was his week you would have been competing with Nige though, so you would have still scored for that Jazz!
He's had that Trio thingy on Dawn before checked it on my portable and concluded it was unlistenable jazz, so I think your spot on with the Eric Adams quote!!!![]()

Spent the weekend in Kyoto (for work) and Osaka (for the record fair) and came back with these, amongst others. A few Waxi trades in there and I managed to snap the Kim Soo Chul twice by mistake. Will add pics of the 45s later.
Albert Mangelsdorf - Diggin': Live in a tiny Jazz cafe in Tokyo which is still going strong. Finally managed to pick up a cheap copy at Workshop in Kyoto. Great store, as I think people on here have mentioned before.
Itakura Katsuyuki - Umineko no Shima: Another longtime want, this is private press solo piano recorded at Johnny's in Rikuzentakada. If that name seems familar, it's because it was flattened by the tsunami last year. Johnny's no longer exists, and quite possibly many of the people in the audience on this recording don't either. Hard not to feel a lump in the throat listening to it tbh, but it's pretty great in any case, veering through Jankowski to Monk and beyond.
Sleepwalker is a club jazz thing from 2004 with Pharaoh Sanders guesting. Pretty good in a Jazz Dance style.
Joachim Kuhn Solos: Have only needledropped it but seems worth the pittance I paid for it.
Hiroshi Tamura - Yayoi no Fue: Beautiful Stone flute recordings. Spare
Solaris/Mirror/Stalker: Dubious provenance, and I already have the Solaris OST, but worth it for the three tracks from Stalker. Gorgeous.
John Surman: 2LP set on Vogue. Not listened yet, but he's wearing the same gear as on another recording I like so should be good, even if only in a trio setting.
Kim Soo Chul - S/T: I thought this was going to be Kim Seok Chul, the shaman hojok player, but it turns out to be interesting nonetheless. Very percussion led in places like the Mkwaju LP.
Christiana F: Let's go to ze diskotech, ja?
Liquid Sky OST: Fairlight frenzy
Mahabarata OST: Real world percussion shennanigans
Hosono Haruomi - Nokto OST: Nice anime OST from YMO man
Ditto - In Human Terms: Private US synth weirdness but goodness
Keur Moussa: beautiful mass with balafon, kora etc
Current Audio Magazine: On Buddah. Need to take the "Sensuous You" test and report back.

Yeah, wasn't in a "Jazz challenge" frame of mind tonight. Let's see what a full day's teaching does for me tomorrow ...
Actually, side one was the clincher. Thought it started to tail off a bit on side two."Summertime"... glad you're diggin' it...

I think I'm about all done now. Must have a half dozen of his albums and that 45. Hip Seagull from 1977 with This Planet Is Ours is the real killer... If you could only keep one, it would have to be that one:-

Good version, not heard it before, but the definitive version has to be
Bettye Lavette's , just amazing

I managed to miss off a pic of a 45 I found at the weekend which I've really been enjoying - Xian Glam anyone?
"..hole...road...middle thereof"
The Jazz Allstars - Thunderball, The Man from U.N.C.L.E and Other Secret Agent Themes
Thought I bought a better copy to replace a quite crackly but when I came home I discovered I had already upgraded and forgot about about. Oh well, a pretty good big band spy jazz led by JJ Johnson for those who don't know the record.
Luciano Berio - Labyrintus 2
Modern avant classical. Not exactly my cup of tea normally. Too arty, but sometimes they hit the spot like Martiranos composition for "gas-masked politico and helium bomb" L'sGa. This one is actually not always unlistenable either - has a part with frantic jazz drumming and screaming for example.
Lou Reed - Live
Lou sounding very unengaged and tired + more guitar wanking than most people need in a lifetime = no good.
Wlodek Gulgowski - Soundcheck
Funky. But also too fusioney for my taste.
Kebnekajse - Resa mot okänt mål
Swedish prog, their first album. Like the leter records better though when they had "grown up" a bit - this one is a bit whimsical/tongue-in-cheek. But they do at times get into a decent Santana-type latin groove:
Nothing too exciting for me then... oh well, the snoring thrift shop dog was awake today which was a first:
Though barely awake.... but still...

LDJB - I'd kill for an Aguaturbia... missed out on a 'Somebody to Love' 45 via Sarge this time last year I think it was, just too late... must keep an eye out for their singles more often... shame they never released 'I wonder who' as a 45... amazing (as is most of their output to be fair!!)
