Default Headless' rogue charity shop hop 2012

Okay, Brainbomb's recent pseudo-CSC adventures had made me a little anxious so I said eff it and went ahead and did mine before any official annonucement had been made. Figured I might as well do it as long as I'm in the countryside for Mum's birthday again anyway. If you don't like it, too bad, that's how I roll.

I decided to be effective and borrow the car and visit the 4 nearest towns and their local charities I usually go to anyway. Tried to limit myself to 100 DKK/12 Euros cash (but took the Visacard in case...)

    Off I went.............

    Town 1: Fredericia
Where I grew up and where my Mum still lives. The town is famous for its ramparts where we fought the Germans in 1864. There's a famous soldier sculpture in town but it's been temporarily removed for restoration.

    Spot 1: The city's "genbrug"/recycling store
Usually slim pickings but recs are 5 DKK/0.75 Euros so... Find some semi-interesting ez/schlager and some disco 12"s.

    Cover of the day!

Some other crap in the place:
Should probably have bought this to rock my old Hiphop cassettes:

    Time to move on.

    Drive by an old drugstore.

    Town 2: Middelfart
Cross the mighty Lillebæltsbro from Jutland/Jylland to Funen/Fyn.

Spot 2: the city's recycling store

Randomest of places. Always the same little pile of crap but last 2 visits I found Joe Bataan 'Gypsy Woman', Moral (rare Danish new-wave ) and other goodies so must try. Nothing today of course besides this medium-hip turntable/cassette combo....

Right, gotta move on. Cross the street to:

Spot 3: a new church charity chain
Usually slim pickings as well but also randomly good things found, like Jeremy Steig etc.

Feeling a little impatient by now so can't help blurt out "YES SIR!" when I see this:

    More crap:

    Movin on...

    Town 3: Kolding

    Spot 4: Swap central

One of the two spots I have the highest expectation for. Big place with lots of used DVDs, cartoons, pawn, and a healthy turnover in records + lots of cheapies on the floor. Have found Mickey Mouse club breakz raer, Kansas City Stompers/Gitte Hænning 'Shadrach', Faze-O and more for 0.75 Euro here.

Not overwhelming today, but I do find some Danish fusion, a interesting and ambient looking record, some more schlager/ez and other stuff.

    And finally on to:

    Town 4: Vejle

    and Spot 5: Salvation Army

Spot with second highest expectations. Only few rows of records but good turnover and have previously found 80s and 90s rap classics and promos + rarer soul like Garnet Mimms. Nothing too crazy today, but find some more ez/schlager nonsense, some school marching band record and more.

    Second cover of the day!

    And more crap...

    And graf nearby...

    Time to go home.

    RESULTS:
    Total amount spent: 21 Euros
    Total time spent: 4 hours
Amount spent per record: 1,19 Euro
Time spent per record: 9.6 minutes

    The finds:

Kamæleon is decent Danish fusion. Edgar Froese/Epsilon is an ambienty thing, supposedly he's part of Tangerine Dream?). Grethe Ingmann did Dansevise for Eurovison 1963, this isn't quite that great but nice. Spartan Spirit school marching band do a fun take on MacArthur Park. John Klemmer is snoozy smooth jazz.

Top row all have bangin schlager tracks, bottom row schlager is crap. Cupids Inps is a little too sunshine for me. Couldn't resist a clean Crockett's theme.

    Exploito and other crap.

    Disco crap.

    Best finds:
The 4 Instants, Kamæleon, Grethe Ingmann, maybe Epsilon/Edgar Froese, Hugo Strasser, Schlagerparade 1970/2 (Die Roxy-Stars und das Orchester Jan Mossura), Carlini's World of strings, Cupid's Inspiration.
Decent haul I'd say. Maybe I should have bought the Fisher Price cassette player and one of those groovy mannequin heads...? Oh well..... Oh and sorry for nothing about food or clothing this time.

It's on a shelf, probably at chest / shoulder height, not the floor. Does that help?

    Thanks chaps.
Hehe, it's a small Fisher Price children's cassetteplayer, regular sized tapes, but the player is only about the size of a 7" record.
B-side of Cupids Insp sounds good.

Wow, posted my finds on another vinyl site and almost got hate mail for the schlager/ez selections. Guess we're just very progressive around here...

The "Million seller hits of '69" LP has my favourite version of 'spinning wheel' EVAR! It is brilliant.

    nice charity haul.

'Say A Prayer For You'? Good find in that case, the break kills it.
Which Plastic Bertrand? He's got one cool boogie track but can't remember what it's called.
Don't know Revelacion, what's the tracks?

Yes, 'Say a 'prayer (US remix) on the flip of 'I'm gonna love you forever'.
Plastic is 'Tout petit la Planete' - sounding like bad heavy Euro disco, not cool disco at first listen.
Revelacion is 'House of the rising sun', 'Revelacios suite', 'Crocos dance' pts 1+2 and 'Time for love'.
Disco makes me feel guilty, mayeb I should give them another try...

Crown Heights Affair is a classic and should stay filed imho!

That wasn't the Plastic Bertrand I thought of but it's pretty good space disco I think, didn't know the Bob Hund sideproject Bergman Rock's biggest hit was a cover of that!
Revelacion seems to be yet another Cerrone project which is always promising, can't find a clip of Time For Love but the other tracks don't do anything for me.
