Mr Sayers, me advising you on Macs is like the blind leading the blind, but have you tried updating your operating software? This may help...

Dunno enough about your mac. Is it just internet stuff that's running slow? A couple of things to try is switch off your router for a minute or two and restart it. Also, if on Firefox for example, try to clear out cookies / cache (tools==>clear recent history==> tick boxes).

If it's your laptop in general, maybe check out it's disk utility. Also, I've used a free prog called Onyx which is kinda like an all in one registry mechanic type thing. It's good, but I'd personally keep it as a last resort though.

I've had that too and I'm supposed to be on some kind of super duper broadband.

The thing I've found since moving to PC is that any anti-virus/ad-blocker/anti pop-up type software seems to really put the brakes on but I'm presuming you don't use those if you have a Mac?

If I was on room 101 I'd banish unwanted software upgrades that only appear to make your computer run slower.

    Grrr.

Ive got no anti virus or anything on my mac, and I don't think it's the router as it does the same at my mams...

Mac's don't really need anitvirus software because they have MacOS instead of DOS operating system and are generally more impervious to infection. Mind you, I had about ninety gigs of music files/tunes on mine and it was running a bit slow. Bought one of those western digital external heard drives (just plug in and use) and dumped them all on that and the laptop was a fair bit quicker after that!

Hmmm, dunno then mate. Wouldn't have thought it'd be anything to do with photos unless they were some really high quality files or something. That's me stumped!
What's the last operating system update, IE is it leopard, snow leopard or lion? I always get confused at this point, and that's the thing with bloody Mac's is they want you to keep buying
the system upgrades which is a royal pain in the arse.

I honestly thought it would be the router. I would've bet money on it. I've had this exact problem several times (virgin media) and just switched off the router at the mains and restarted it a minute later. Speed back to normal instantly. You get put to the 'top of the pile' again apparently. I can't think of anything else except speed throttling by the isp.

    Do a speed test http://www.speedtest.net/

hmmm interesting. Your speed is bloomin' fast. So, if I were you I'd try to upgrade flash, java and check that you are not running on HTML5. Long shot on the last one, but see here for an explanation.

Also try a different browser. i.e. if you are using Safari, try watching on Mozilla Firefox.

You'll mac will work right again if it kills me!
