Default Live Record Auction Manchester Thursday.

Live record auction escape bar barlow moor road chorlton. Records will be introduced, then played, then bidding will commence most will start at 50p raers will have a reserve of no more than there will definitely be some good stuff on offer. A good generic cross section and many exotic delights. The bar itself has a wonderful ale and crisp selection and some great taxidermy, entomological and anatomical pieces to feast ones eyes on.

    Not my words

[the event will]"Gather together plenty of top end dj's, collectors and general lovers of music with records to spare, share, sell and trade... And have a good drink up while we're at it!

The Vinyl Countdown will happen the last Thursday of every month at Escape in Chorlton and will center around a casual, fun, live record auction but with an open minded outlook that will more than encourage trades, sales and swaps across the room all night long.

And why stick at just vinyl? Although I imagine this to be a mainly music centred event any curios are welcome and we'll put anything into the auction that should up the interest and fun quotient."

Yep, this Thursday. It's not in janda's bar (don't think he actually has one anymore)
If this thing pulls off it should be pretty mega for buyers, sellers and traders.

Yeah, nice one Lee...and I hear they have some great DJs at Escape

I'll be bringing that John Inman album you've been mithering me about so make sure you bring that Burnier & Cartier album you agreed to swap for it, eh?

Well, that was pretty amazing, shame time got the better of us.
Not a single dud record was offered and there was some serious bargains.
I'll post up records and prices later.
Think it's gonna go fortnightly as it was a roaring success and a real laugh.

Sadly people, I must report that the John Inman/Burnier & Cartier deal fell through after leebrady 'accidentally' regained consciousness, but I did score a lovely Djavan album off him and it says much about the man that he generously threw in a Milton Nascimento album for buckshee...thanks fella...

We had a great night at Escape, it was well organised and Lee Gorton proved to be a superb auctioneer - his enthusiasm was reflected in the hectic (and occasionally hilarious) bidding, jockeying for position and frantic side deals that took place. It was good to see plenty of vinyl novices getting involved in the action and the night generally reaffirmed one's faith in the black shiny stuff.

All the bidding was in the room and nothing went for really big money, so there were plenty of bargains to be had. Get yourselves down to the next one with a bag of swaps (the last Thursday of every month) as I'm sure it's going to get bigger and better, with maybe an online bidding facility too.

Or if you're in the area, get down tonight - there's a really good DJ on, whatsisname?...'Massive Cockerel' or summat...

Yes, please do come. I should add there'll be another auction/trade off Thursday week, with a few formatting tweaks that certainly promises to make it even better.

Hard to say what'll go down well. Everything i brought along was eagerly devoured by punters in the way of straight auction or trade.
Taking last week into account I'd say it's not a place for trying to shift unwanted records due to suspect quality rather a place to rid oneself of doubles in my case I tend to offload singles if I have the lp.
    Artists that sold last week
    Aphrodites child
    Martin circus
    Nino ferrer
    Djavan
    T Rex
    John renbourn
    Antonio Carlos jocafi
    Marmalade
    Batch of library records
Maximum a record fetched was £11 a few raers went unsold Ogden nut 1st press mint reserve £70 ( bargain really)

Hope that gives thee an idea of what to bring. Still, bring whatever you want variation is a good thing.

This should be a good laugh tomorrow. Theres gonna be a guest selector each event who will give a 1 hour dj set of what they have for offer; an aural viewing if you like. Tomorrows guest selector is myself and while i shan't claim to put my best/rarest records up for sale or trade. Ill cettainly try my best like everyone else to make it worthwhile record-wise for anyone that drops by.
