Admittedly all of these are from the Peculiar Hole In The Sky comp of aussie pop psych. Peter Wright - House Of Bamboo is great too but couldn't find that. Not the Earl Grant track but a kind of Elvis goes fuzzed out bombastic pop vibe?

For a small country we did pretty well in the mid-60s. Some of my personal faves, still mostly easy to find too:

    Master Apprentices - Undecided
    Cheap and killer

    Easybeats - For My Woman
My favourite Aussie 60s record. Cheap too.

Normie Rowe - Shakin' All Over
    What a version! Another cheapy.

Vince Maloney Sect - No Good Without You

Tony Barber - I Don't Want You Like That
Ex-Aztec who wrote quite a few great and odd garagey tunes. His album rules.

    The Loved Ones!!!!!!

Then there's this - a personal grail! One day i'll turn it up in a country op-shop.
The Missing Links - You're Driving Me Insane

    Thumbs up Great post man....

This is an area I know bugger all about, infact the only single I have is that Russell Morris one.

Seen as I know so little about this area can I cheat and add a fave from New Zealand -

"Hangin' out with you two is like partying with Fugazi"

I have the debut Masters Apprentices Astor LP and the singles from around that period - brilliant band...

Ditto the Easybeats... I have picked up pretty much all their stuff... amazing...

Missing Links/Chants RNB etc all well worth investigating too obviously as you say if you like your snotty r'n'b sound... I saw a copy of 'Come On' by the Atlantics last year on ebay - just wish I had bid more to try and get that, amazing record... the youtube video is pretty funny as it looks like the singer is wearing a bad wig, although it's probably the way he has just combed his hair...

The singer is Johnny Rebb who was a bit of a regional rock'n'roll star in the 50s and tried to reinvent himself in the 60s by joining up with The Atlantics. He's from NZ. His band, 'The Rebels', did a nice version of 'Rumble' that's worth picking up for cheap.

One thing I've found with sixties Aussie stuff is that even mainstream acts kicked ass, no matter how cheesy they looked. Bobby and Laurie's hitch hiker' lp is well worth picking up...loads of stinking fuzz guitar and plenty of originals.

Johnny Young- good evening girl- another cheapy, and the UK pressing is relatively easy to come by.

"Not only that but the WHOLE COVER is UNCREASED with only 2 or 3 TINY creaselines near the opening edge about half way down!!!! In the same place (about half way down the opening edge), there is an absolutely TINY and PERFECTLY repaired split" (xxxrecords)

More phasing... Wild Cherries 'That's Life'

And, splitting hairs... Terry Britten was a Brit but, post Twilights, did he record this in Australia or after his return to the UK? Terry Britten 'Bargain Day'
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.
