    Default Favorite corrupt cop film?

About to revisit Bad Lieutenant on DVD and got thinking about the sub-genre "corrupt cop crime". Which are your favorite(s)? BL is probably my fave, bc of Farrera's style and nihilism.
Pride and glory was another good recent one, brutal realism and family drama. Internal affairs was also rough and had the slick early 90s look + latent erotic tension between Richard Gere and the Baldwin guy. Oh, and Cop Land of course, bunch of your favorite character actors all overweight and sweaty.

    Add on!

    LA Confidential

A great turn from Kevin Spacey, though the start for me is the guy out of Babe. That'll do, pig, that'll do.

This is great, fun but bleak - not so much "corrupt cops" as "corrupt system":

Have any of you seen that 2011 (?) film called The Guard... it's a comedy but has some serious twists - I won't ruin it, but the gist is a major drugs deal going down in a sleepy Irish village where the main cop is a bit of a loveable rogue kind of corrupt... well worth a watch!

This is a good corrupt cop film that came out in Spain last year. He's a total fucking bastard with a perm, a badge and a gun.

Not as good as the same director's Caja 501, though. Everyone's corrupt in that.

Depardieu is also a toweringly corrupt cop in Oliver Marchal's 36 Quai Des Orfevres

Training Day is an ACE corrupt cop film, too. I'll watch Denzel Washington in anything, but he turns it right up in that one.

My favourite corrupt cop is Gary Oldman in 'Leon', but my favourite corrupt cop film is 'Touch of Evil'.

I reckon corrupt cops get a raw deal in the movies. I've met at least two real life ones, and they were lovely fellows when they weren't fleeing from accidents they'd caused after getting pissed or fining people despite having 'forgotten' their tickets.

I met a policeman once who proceeded to offer me cheap drugs from a stash in his lambretta after a mod do...

He was off duty, mind... :-)

It's cheating as it's not a film, but 'Braquo' is teeming with corrupt cops and is (for me) up there with The Wire.

In fact the French do the corrupt cop genre remarkably well (Engrenages, 36, La Balance, Dobermann, Mesrine - all feature some slightly dubious application of modern policing techniques).

But Braquo really is next level and should be seen by as many people as possible, not least of which because it introduces one of the all-time great villains. You have been warned.

Loved 'Braquo' and also 'Romanzo Criminale', the Italian show which was totally over the top, spanned 25 years from 1970's into the 90's.

Leon (Gary Oldman's corrupt cop gang)
Rampart (Woody Harrelson's sleazy corrupt cop - newish film)

Not seen those, but I was glued to repeats of La Piovra last year - brilliant 80s Italian mafia series with music from Morricone.

    How could I forget Q&A!
But Q&A primarily belongs in the "sweaty and overweight Nick Nolte-film" category.
