    Default From Tiny Acorns...

...a radio station will grow! At least thats the plan anyway, my radio show was broadcast for over 20 years via CRMK
and we have just been given an old building by the local council - which they claim would be too expensive to knock down.
So they have given us a 10 year lease for a £1 a year peppercorn rent. The only thing is we have to basically start from scratch.
I have started a blog which will show the progress as it comes along so I hope you'll enjoy seeing the progress we make,
there is no great rush but fingers x we can sort it by Easter of 2016, that's the plan anyway!

I'll follow with interest. We have a similar deal with the council on some waste ground the wife took over as a garden, I had to put up a concrete garage for my music studio though (not on the rented land mind). Great acoustics Not! (but it gives me somewhere to hide and make some noise and record! it even has a couch albeit that I share it with the washing machine and tumble dryer)

Looks like you'll be having a lot of fun!, Good Luck with it all.

EDIT: And I hope you know some builders/roofers/plasterers etc who'll help you out.

ha, not really but there was a really old bit of soap left on one of the basins. We will be after any DJ's too come broadcasting time so yes,
if your interested there is spaces available. We do have some plasterers/plumbers/builders amongst our ranks, I am good at painting & decorating
but the main work so far is clearing the ivy/weeds which have taken over worse than the War of The Worlds red weed!

What an exciting project. Best of luck HG. Hope it turns into the marvellous oak you envisage. Out of interest, what was its previous use?

Blimey. I'd have thought that being under 70 miles from London, a detached property with garden and off street parking would be on the market for at least £250k...

Seriously though HG, that looks like a fantastic adventure to embark upon....all the best with it!

You should open the first show with Derek & Clive's "In the Lavs". On second thoughts, maybe not ... "Big Log" by Robert Plant? Something from "Flow Motion" by Can, perhaps?

How about a live session from the Brickhouse and Arsetricked Brass Band?

Looked em up surely nothing called 'angels trumpet' could be deemed the devils plant. I seem to remember a guy I knew called Peter Gabriel who had a thing about 'Giant Hogweed'.

Seriously though, had a neighbour once as a kid who in an act of spitefulness decided to grow ivy up the side of my old mans outbuilding that bordered his property, serious destruction until the new neighbor managed to kill it off some years later.

Anyway despite his ivy destructing ways among other things he did which aren't worth going into as they aint' plant related, he went bankrupt and got royally screwed over by his wife in a bitter divorce, lost everything. 'Needless to say 'my dad' had the last laugh'

If it was 25 years ago we'd have probably got on one of those 'neighbours from hell' type tv crud they show these days!

Put an add on freecycle or freegle and ask for unwanted rubble sacks, great things for moving all that foliage in your car without destroying your car interior. Looking good but that foliage looks evil you need some kind of strong weed/tree killer to make sure its gone for good.

well luckily there is a tip right over the road, which is so handy - 5 trips yesterday, but my car interior is a state anyway so it's not too bad, just leaves cropping up inside the most unexpected places!
